Failed AUD 2nd time Feeling so discouraged that I have not passed a section yet. The thing is my FAR NTS expires on 2/12/16. Not feeling so great with my preparation. This will be my 3rd attempt. Today’s score has totally destroyed my morale.

The other thing is I usually work only during tax seasons. This time I was busy studying & started applying only from mid Jan for seasonal jobs & I have not got a job yet. So no job, no passed section. Ya, I messed up big time. Shall I just take it as a sign & focus on studying full time during tax season?

Shall I skip taking FAR & not risk another failure? Or make the most of it till 2/12 & take it?

    FAR - < than 75, 10/2013, 2/2015
    BEC - < than 75, 10/2013
    AUD - < than 75, 8/2015, 1/2016

You already paid for FAR so you might as well take it. If you don't pass I wouldn't get too discouraged since in your opinion you don't really feel too good about your prep. If you went into it feeling awesome and you failed then that could be discouraging. If I were you though I would focus on passing 1 exam at a time so if you do happen to not pass, you don't have to forget everything you learned by studying for another section

    AUD 93 Jan 16
    BEC 83 Feb 16
    FAR 83 Apr 16
    REG 84 May 16

I agree with Biff. Also, have you looked into different studying programs? I know mixing it up helps a lot of folks, maybe you just aren't studying using the right format for you.

I failed AUD and thought I would try REG. I failed REG too then started working full time took a year off and got back into the study mode. I passed REG on the second time because i was so close with a 74 the first time. I tried FAR next and passed then AUD again and passed too. It might make sense for you to try REG after FAR. But like Biff said you paid for FAR so you might as well keep focusing on that and take it!

Try to find a study plan that works for you. I found working and studying at the same time was very hard but it motivated me to study. Where as when I had time off I did not study as much as I should have because I felt I had sooo much time. So for that question I would work and study if you think you can stay energized enough.

    I hope this helps!

    AUD - 69, 77
    REG - 74, 81
    FAR - 75!
    BEC - 71, 82

    IL candidate!

    Finally done (5/24/16)!! Yahooooooo!

As I write this post, I see how I have complicated things for the exams, which as it is crazy. In 2013, I paid for FAR & BEC at the same. I took FAR first. But took BEC because NTS would expire & I would lose the money anyway. Failed both. I made the same mistake last year by paying for FAR & AUD at the same time. Took AUD first & failed. Then took AUD again in Jan & failed again. But FAR NTS will expire 2/12. But I get your point, Biff-1955-Tannen. For now, I will prepare for FAR & take it next week. After 2/13, I'll start revising for AUD so I don't lose time. Then if I pass FAR on 2/23, I will continue preparing for AUD. If I don't, I will prepare for FAR. In future, I will pay for only one section at a time.

    FAR - < than 75, 10/2013, 2/2015
    BEC - < than 75, 10/2013
    AUD - < than 75, 8/2015, 1/2016

I'd say go balls to the wall with FAR until your test and give it your best shot. After that, I recommend picking an exam and sticking with it until you pass it. I have failed exams too and if you keep pounding it in your head and stay committed, you will pass. Keep at it, you got this!

    FAR - 80
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    REG - 85

    ETHICS - 90
    EXPERIENCE - COMPLETE
Application for California license mailed 8/4/2016

Thanks, CPA2BEE. Yes, that's what make sense at this point. I will lose the money anyway, if I don't.

Thanks, Jessica8926. I used Roger & Wiley book for FAR. For AUD, I used Gleim & Wiley book. For both FAR & AUD, I did terrible on the sims.

Regarding working & studying, you have a valid point. For the past 3 years, I have worked only during tax seasons. I kept it that way so I can focus on studying full time rest of the year. But I tend to procastinate & not use time effectively while studying full time. I was interviewed by a CPA firm for a year around position, but have not heard from them yet. The biggest advantage is that this firm is less than 10 minutes away from home. So hopefully if I get this job with less commute, I can reorganize my schedule & study while working.

Regarding switching sections, I think I will just stick with FAR & AUD for now. Although I have considerable tax experience, I don't want to take REG now with my history.

    FAR - < than 75, 10/2013, 2/2015

Even better plan would be to study really hard & take FAR next week. Take a break from 2/13 – 2/23. Then after knowing FAR score, go from there.

    FAR - < than 75, 10/2013, 2/2015
    BEC - < than 75, 10/2013
    AUD - < than 75, 8/2015, 1/2016

I agree with @CPA2BEE I failed BEC twice before a final pass. Just stay and pound one section at a time. Just like a work out session, stay focused. If you failed AUDIT

If you failed AUDIT stay with Audit until you pass try other databases, books etc. that is my .02 cents.

makiu, the last sentence in your post is incomplete. What were you about to add?

    FAR - < than 75, 10/2013, 2/2015
    BEC - < than 75, 10/2013
    AUD - < than 75, 8/2015, 1/2016

makiu, I am going to take FAR since my NTS will be expiring next week. I will take the next exam depending on that score.

    FAR - < than 75, 10/2013, 2/2015
    BEC - < than 75, 10/2013
    AUD - < than 75, 8/2015, 1/2016
