    Hi Ninjas,

I failed BEC with a 71 and I’m not happy as this was my last test. Anyway, there is no need for me to dwell over that which I can’t change. Can anyone offer input on what review materials worked well for you in your preparation to take BEC?

Sorry for hearing that. How was your study strategy for BEC (total hours, weeks, materials that you used) ? Do you think the real exam is very different from your practice MCQ ? I will take BEC in Oct and am studying for it now. So sorry that I can't give you advice but at least we can share the experience how to study effectively and efficiently.

What was your experience on exam day? Did you walk out feeling as if you passed? What subjects did you struggle with?

focus on those subjects for sure.

qfolmar- I am so sorry for your fail. BEC is a bitch!!! I also failed BEC with a 71- I don't know if it will work but my re-take strategy is to try and nail down all of concepts so that I can recite them in my sleep 🙂 I am skipping the videos this time around and concentrating on re-writing my notes over and over and over again as well as doing as many MCQ's as possible. Ideally I would like to be trending / averaging in the upper 90's when I go to test (before I was trending in the 80's and failed).

Good luck maybe I will “see you” in the BEC study group

@Ashely and @c1oth, I studied for 160 hours utilizing Ninja material and Roger's Cram. I didn't feel as prepared as I did for my other sections prior to taking the exam, but once I took the exam, I honestly felt as if the test, overall, was decent. Obviously, I was wrong.

@mckan514w, you will definitely see me in the BEC study group. What review materials are you using for your MCQ's? I was trending in the 80s as well, which is the reason I didn't feel as prepared as I did for my other sections.

@gfolmar I'd say certainly master the questions I felt like skipping. Like i know which type of questions I hated seeing.

Im in the 71 club for BEC as well, just did my retake yesterday. That was still rough! BEC is a tough one to prep for, some people call it “easy”, many others struggle. It all starts with honesty in your approach. For me, on attempt #1, i know i should have put more time into IT, Econ, and COSO. Attempt #2 (yesterday) I know I rushed, didnt really have enough time for repetition. I prepped learning the ninja way for 10 days, panicked the last two days and went back to Gleim (my comfort zone), bc Ninja was too hard for me lol. I fried my brain in the process, which didnt help me when I finally sat.

Make sure you give yourself an honest assessment before jumping to new material.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

@qfolmar I am using Ninja as well as Roger's (regular not the cram all though not sure there is much difference).

I was actually the opposite of you I felt more than prepared and even walked out of the exam thinking I passed…. to say I was crushed when I got my score would be an understatement!!! because honestly I was not sure how I could have prepared any more.

As I have started going back through the material I can pin point things that I think probably tripped me up so hopefully that will help this next go round sadly however I think BEC is so much of the luck of the draw on what material shows up- which stinks…

My suggestion is to get right back into it. Stay positive. Don't think it as a failure. Think of it as you are 71/75 the way there.

Rework all the questions and really drill down on the things that gave you trouble.

@mtaylo24, thanks for the information. I've done all the MCQs in the review material I have, multiple times, so I just think I probably need to invest in another test bank in the event I have those questions memorized.

I failed BEC twice with a 71 and 74…..just had a dumpster fire experience for my 3rd try (check out another 71 homepage for my blog post), but finally passed with a 81.

My biggest tip is to write all the formulas/variances/ratios on notecards (I had about 80) and commit them to short-term memory the night before your BEC exam. I even reviewed them the morning off and it helped so much!

Gotcha, i think Gleim has a decent TB for BEC….plus there is Wiley. I think you can demo both.
