So i got my score today and found out i failed. Need some advice now. Should i stop studying for FAR and go back to studying for AUD before i start forgetting the material? My FAR NTS expires December. Also, should I start watching the lecture videos again or would that be waste of time? Should i just read the book and do mcq and such? Planning to get ninja mcq to supplement this time as i already finished the mcq from my review course and feel like I would get them correct just base on memory rather then understanding at this point.

That depends – when are you scheduled for FAR? How far into your studies are you? How far away from the 75 for AUD were you?
-If you have FAR coming up in near future and are on par with that study schedule, stick with FAR and get it over with. Use your AUD score as motivation to really nail FAR to get it done so you can tackle AUD.
-If you haven't scheduled FAR or it's further out, consider your AUD score and how much of the info you have retained since you took it. If you were within 5 points or so and feel like you wouldn't be starting from square one, put FAR on hold and fast-track AUD.
-If FAR isn't scheduled soon and AUD didn't go so well, decide which one you can handle best. Either bump up FAR to get it out of the way sooner or postpone it until November and fast track your AUD retake now.

You can do it! One step at a time. Don't let the NTS worry you, you still have two plus solid months to schedule/take FAR.

    FAR - 87; May 2016
AUD - Anxiously waiting, July 2016
    BEC - ?, August 2016
    REG - TBD

I concur! Take aud and knock it out. I do not recommend more than 8 weeks of study for FAR, it may seem hard, but it is not worth to take longer than 8 weeks to study for FAR. There's so much material, you'll forget some.

If you change your AUD test date to the beg of Oct, you'll have 40 days to restudy.

I guess will take Audit again, any suggestions with the material? Should i just avoid the video lectures and just read the book? I'm just a week into my FAR studies. My main issue is that I have class beginning next week which can really affect my study time along with work.

    I just found out I failed AUD for the 2nd time… 1st – 68, 2nd – 70

I'm starting to think that doing tons and tons… and TONS of MCQ and writing why things are right/wrong/your understanding, will have a good impact on performance… the more questions you're exposed to, the better you will become at mastering/tackling questions?

    Thoughts anyone?

No thoughts, because this is my first time. Does any have any experience switching exam materials and if so, how much did it help? I really want to pass it this time around.

As an expert AUD Exam Failer (51,67,69), I can definitively say that you should not try and flip-flop between tests. This was what absolutely killed me last year, trying to do AUD and REG in the same window and when I found out that I had failed AUD, I kept studying for Reg thinking that I'd just swoop back and knock out AUD in the next window. The problem with that is that Reg (or in your case, FAR) will dominate your thinking for the next few weeks and your AUD knowledge will get pushed out of your brain to make room for the other exam! You'll be doomed to repeat the exact same cycle for 3 windows like me!

Oh yeah, if you already watched your video lectures, then don't re-watch them! I tried that too, and brains have a tendency to tune out and subconsciously think “I know this already, no need to focus here”.
Since your time is a little limited, I'd suggest grabbing NINJA MCQs and NINJA Notes. Re-write the notes at LEAST once (and review those hand-written notes several times) and just nail MCQs over and over.
If you look in the “MCQ Trending VS Actual Scores” post, people are doing about TWO THOUSAND MCQs and then passing the exam. at an average of 2 mins per question, that's over 66 hours just on the MCQs!!!
Don't neglect doing your Simulations either, even though those aren't tracked like the MCQs!!!

Take your time and focus until you pass an exam. Knock out the tests one after another, don't rush it!

    Far: 49
    BEC: 79 (Expired)
    AUD: 51, 67, 64
    REG: 59, 64, 59, 69

Seven years ago, I used Becker to study audit and got 50s so I gave up. This year I came back and redid cpa exams because I know my mission is to pass it. I only use ninja 10 point product, rewrote ninja notes 4 times, read ninja book once, nonstop did mcq (hit review two times and reset the data twice), watched video for 3 times. Now I passed the animal with 76 (my perfect score is 75. lol). Just one by one, step by step.

@Kettlepot and @Ssea77, thanks for the advice, now i'm also considering getting ninja notes as well seeing that it really helped you two with the exam.

I failed Audit with a 65. I had Roger and Ninja. One thing I learned about ninja is to follow the pace that it is set up as. I tried by only doing new questions until I had seen them all then I did missed last time seen and ended up trending 99 but my average was around 68. I've now reread my book and gone through my notes. I'm following the ninja course as is and I'm averaging 81 and trending 83. I realized just how much I had forgotten the first time around.

@khodges25 What do you mean by missed last time seen? Not familiar with ninja mcq interface. How would you suggest doing the questions? What is the ninja pace? Is that provided when you get the mcq or is that from somewhere else?

I'll just add that FAR is somewhat complimentary to AUD. I'll never forget that AUD Sim in which I had to identify to appropriate audit treatment for derivatives! In essence, I had to know the accounting behind derivatives (the FAR treatment).

Of all 4 CPA exams, AUD is the one I recommend cramming the most. You don't need a calculator for AUD, and you can't really reason out many answers.

But I would get AUD out the way first and stop with FAR.

    BEC - 85
    AUD - 81
    REG - 84
    FAR - 7/24/16

I failed AUD first with a score of 74 and in the 2nd attempt passed with a score of 75.Yesterday I received the AUD score. So far in my experience AUD seems to be the tricky one. I think instead of practicing tons of MCQ's in AUD its better to read the AUD book 2-3 times.I also bought the AUD ninja notes. Used Becker exam review and final review.Final Review definitely helped me in BEC and FAR.Not AUD though.Maybe Becker has to update the AUD content. It seems little bit outdated and not in sync with the AUD exam.In the videos I felt Tim Gearty is just reading the material and asking us to underline instead of explaining the concept. Not worth at all. I felt lot of topics not covered in detail in Becker. JE's and Ratio Analysis is important in AUD and don't ignore it.For me BEC is the easiest. Passed BEC,AUD and FAR. Plan to take REG soon .Good luck with your preparation and you can do it 🙂
