Just got my Audit score last night and I scored a 73. Third time I have taken this test. I have Becker and I just bought the Ninja MC. I am retaking the test on April 4.

Please someone give me some advice on how I should study for this test in the next 40 days. I was scoring in the 90’s on Becker and the Wiley software I was using. Not sure what else to do. I walked out thinking I passed…

You came so close – I got a 74 in Q4 so I feel your pain. (and I actually have taken this test 4 other times back in 2012 before passing, but that expired), anyway…

Are your weaknesses in MCQ or SIMS, or both?

I passed this time solely with the NINJA MCQ. I tried Becker before and just felt the lectures were a waste for me. Repetitive MCQs has helped me, and truly knowing why I got the answer right vs. wrong. Not just remembering questions and speeding through the study material.

To give you an idea, I spent a total of about 28 hours on the MCQ software and got through just over 1100 questions, and also spent about another 25 hours with the NINJA book going through MCQ there and utilizing previous released AICPA questions.

Maybe you need to change up your study material. You can definitely do this by April 3!

First of all, I want to thank you for your response. I appreciate the advice.

My plan is to do all 1500 MC from the Ninja software, all 86 simulations available, and the practice exam. I am also most likely going to try to redo all of the homework in Becker and Wiley until the Wiley expires.

I am not sure if I was weaker on the SIMS or MC. Guess I will get some idea when I get the detail from my scoring. I actually felt like i got easier SIMS this time around then I ever have before on any test. Very worried that next time I will get bombarded with terrible ones like it always seems I do. I am planning on spending at least 20 hours per week over the next 5 1/2 to 6 weeks doing all of the work above. Not sure what else I can really do. I really don't think I have a specifically weak area. Maybe I just need to slow down and read the questions more thoroughly. I walked out of this test feeling like scored in the 90's and failed. I walked out of REG a couple of months ago and swore i failed. Scored an 83. This test really is a mind game.

I appreciate any more advice. Trying to recover mentally from the score release so i can push forward.

I just failed AUD too, with a 74.

But the biggest issue for me in the past was the detailed wording. I've forced myself to slow down and really try to see the wording of the question and the facts. And when I find my choice of answer, I check the other three and see if I can determine why they're the wrong answer, time permitting.

@mjbey1s- It sounds like you have a good plan. At 20 hours per week over the next 5-6 weeks however, try to keep in mind quality over quantity.

You should definitely aim to get through all 1500 MCQs in NINJA, but try not to burn yourself out also trying to do all of the SIMS and all of the Becker homework. In my many times of taking this exam, the times I get burnt out are when I set a goal to finish “x” amount of questions every single night – so then I get into this race of getting them all done, vs. really working through them and understanding the why.

Also, I only looked at a handful of SIMS, because I felt as though the MCQs prepared me thoroughly for them, and because I utilized the Authoritative Literature as much as I can for the SIMs during the actual exam (and I truly believe it helped me ace some of the SIMS).

Start with the 1500 MCQ, and maybe use the Becker homework as a filler when you don't have your laptop with you.

I think this fresh material and “change of scenery” will definitely help you pass this next time!

I did over 3,000 MCQ in Ninja on my retake and got a 75. This was the toughest test IMO. Go All In on Ninja.

TXCPAGal, would you mind explaining how you have used the authoritative literature to help you with the simulations? And yes I think I will just focus on the ninja Mc and do some of the 86 sims. I also may looked at the recently released AICPA questions.
