Experience requirement

    I have 2 exams passed and I plan on being done by Q3.

    I will be going to graduate school after i am done with the exam and i am wondering if a graduate assistantship working with a CPA can count as work experience?

    Rules vary by state. What state are you in/do you plan to be licensed in?

    I think the majority of states do accept part-time work under a CPA, provided it is doing accounting work…and of course it doesn't count as full-time work (like 20-hour weeks would require 2 years to equal 1 year). If the graduate assistantship is full-time, and is doing accounting work (not just filing papers or grading homework for a professor all day 😉 ), then it probably would count same as any other accounting job.

    However, again, rules vary by state.
