    Hi all,

I am going to take my first exam in 6 days.
When it comes to calculation problem, I usually write stuff down so
I can organize key information in a way that I want to.

I am aware that CPA exam center provides some special type of pen and paper.
However, I heard that the pen is kind of dull and not sharp, and can’t really write well with it.

Should I develop a habit of solving problem without writing stuff down?
or is the test center provided pen good enough?

They have good materials at the test center. I always look at the tips of both pens they provide to ensure they have a sharp tip and write properly. They have several pens on hand so just find the best two before you enter the testing room.

I think it's a crime against humanity to have the tests with:

    – Plastic noteboards and think markers. Very difficult to do the whole exam without needing a fresh one. Pens dry out. Just ask for more through the exam. Make the proctors work – that's what we're paying for.

    – The “spreadsheet” and calculator in the software don't have thousand separators. This is a distinct disadvantage if people suffer from even mild cases of dyslexia. At least you should be able to set preferences.

Are the laminate sheets with the dry erase pens eraseable with your finger at Prometric?

I'm about to take FAR and I know I'm going to be writing like crazy.

Where I took it I think they only gave me two sheets.

Definitely make the proctors work! They gave me a calculator that was running low on batteries and was super dim. I asked for a new one.
