Hi Community,

Becker suggests spending 40-45 minutes on each MCQ testlets, but after doing the first mock exam, I found it insufficient. I tried to do each MCQs testlet under 45 mins and had to guess a lot because many MCQs were actually quite complicated. I ended up finishing testlets 3-5 with over 1h left. Could it be because the Becker sims are too easy and not representative of the actual difficulty?

How much time would be reasonable for MCQs in your opinion? Thanks!

@puppykoala as someone who has taken the AUD exam twice, I would advise you to follow Becker's recommendations. You should finish testlets 1 and 2 having 2 hrs and 15-30 minutes left for the rest. I have studied with Becker as well and I can tell you the sims from the exam are much harder, but the MCQ are much easier than Becker's mock exams. One thing I would also advise you (and having discussed this with my friends who are also taking the exams) is to not spend more than 10 minutes in the authoritative literature question. Most of the time, you won't find the exact wording you're looking for but you need to trust your instincts and go with it. I hope this helps!

I did not use Becker but I would assume their SIMs are not an accurate portrayal, plus the stress of the actual exam.
I used 45 minutes for my first FAR MCQ, then an hour on the second and ran out of time on the last SIMs.
Try as hard as you can to do the MCQ as fast as possible to leave yourself as much time for the SIMs as you can, especially FAR.

You want to run a little faster than that suggestion of 90 minutes for the MCQ testlets. Keep it at a 1 minute pace on the MCQ and you'll wind up with 20+ minutes for each SIM. People only talk about the ones with calculations taking so long but you can answer the majority of them in less than a minute so that it averages out to your target pace.

Did my 2nd FAR mock and not have much improvements on the MCQs (I mainly reviewed MCQs lol over the past week). Overall score was improved, although still under 75% (71% vs 65% on the first mock). I used a lot of time for the MCQs and felt that they were so hard. The questions stems were long and contain a lot of distractors I think. It took me about 2hr and 10-15mins and a ton of brain processing power that I literally felt dizzy after the 2 testlets. Just wanted to share this experience. Hope for the best on the actual exam on the 29th!
