bryan7193MemberHas anyone ever had an exam cancelled due to weather? I live in MD and received notice that my exam tomorrow (12/9) is cancelled. I was wondering if anyone got an extension on the testing window so I don’t have to wait until the next testing window (January) to take my exam.

IamBlessedParticipant@C.P.A the third, sure thing … I just checked the weather forecast and snow is expected to stop in New Castle, DE later today and will be sunny tomorrow morning.

ThaoParticipantThe best thing is to call or chat with Prometric. I chat with someone last night. Birmingham, AL was open for tomorrow. However, the customer service representative told me that they havent updated the system since a lot of people are affected and rescheduled. They canceled my test because of the snow. The thing is it snowed Friday, December 8 and stopped. It was perfectly sunny today. Now it is just slightly raining.

TommyTheCatParticipantshawn – please see my comment in your previous post you cited. you are an a-hole, trying to sell a spot for 1500 bucks to someone in a pinch.

VZBD93ParticipantI just spoke with a rep at a Florida office who said that if you were scheduled on a day that was closed, that someone would be contacting you directly to set you up with a new date within the next ten days or so. I told him my concern with scheduling around work and he said not to worry as they were good with working with you if you were inconvenienced. If you must contact someone, try calling a location that wouldn't be closed because of snow like I did.

ThaoParticipant@VZBD93 Hey are you saying that they will automatically contact the people who were affected? Or do i have to contact them? i checked all the states that within 10 hours where i live, and everything is closed for this week. my next concert would be the last testing day of the window. The last day is Sunday, and they told you that they would reschedule within 10 days? Would NASBA extend the window for this quarter?

MeanJoeParticipantC.P.A the third,
I spoke to a representative from Prometric and they offered me the spot to test in New Castle, DE as they are not closed tomorrow at the moment.
He said that most of the testing centers in NJ are already closed tomorrow or have no availability.
December 9, 2017 at 11:39 am #1676165
MeanJoeParticipantAlso, my representative never mentioned anything about being contacted about setting up testing within 10 days. He only mentioned that since my NTS would expire before the next testing window I could apply to have it extended.
He made it sound like the testing window closes on the 10th and thats it

IamBlessedParticipant@MeanJoe — thanks for the update, I am testing in New Castle tomorrow as well.

lorik_86ParticipantHey guys! I was supposed to be seating for FAR today at 1pm in MD. I took FAR last window and got 74. My REG credit will expire Dec 17th and I was also scheduled for a mid-year promotion at my firm, if I pass this final part. I reached out to candidatecare@nasba.com asking whether the window will be extended for us. They just replied, here is their response:
“The 17Q4 testing window will not be extended after December 10th. If you are about to lose credit for passed part(s) only your Board of Accountancy has the authority to extend credits.”
This situation really messed my plans up. I am very disappointed that I have to study again with new REVENUE rules and my becker review course is also expiring this month. I dont understand why they can't just extend it for one day. They are heartless.
Good luck everyone who missed their chance to take it this window.
December 9, 2017 at 12:01 pm #1676176
MeanJoeParticipantI just called prometric's number again and the representative said that they have not been notified by NASBA or the AICPA about extending the testing window as of now.
I think I am going lean on the safe side and make the drive to Delaware so I can guarantee I will have an attempt within this testing window.
For all those that are not able to find an available opening for tomorrow I really hope that you can take the exam within the next ten days and it count towards this window but that does not sound like it is determined at this point.

ThaoParticipantNASBA will not extend this testing window. They emailed me back..

Ryan75ParticipantI got New Castle DE tomorrow at 9 as well
December 9, 2017 at 4:27 pm #1676279
TncincyParticipantWell this is an opportunity to get a little more study in. It is a bummer that the weather can be such a hindrance at this time, but what can you do but be ready. January is only a few more weeks, so take full advantage of bad weather. And absolutely be careful if you must travel.
It begins with a 75

SGoodParticipantTHE 17Q4 TESTING WINDOW WILL NOT BE EXTENDED AFTER DECEMBER 10TH
CANDIDATE PROCEDURES FOR WEATHER RELATED SITE CLOSURES:
If the test center is closed and therefore appointments cancelled, Prometric's Outbound Team will contact the affected candidates to assist them in rescheduling.
If an extension of the NTS is required in order to reschedule, candidates will be referred to NASBA's Candidate Care Department at candidatecare@nasba.org
Test center closures are listed and updated at http://www.prometric.com/sitestatus
If the test center is open candidates need to make an effort to attend their appointments providing their safety and well-being are not at risk.
If the site is open but the candidate cannot attend due to safety/ travel concerns, outages etc., the candidate is required to contact NASBA via email at candidatecare@nasba.org and provide the following information:
a) Candidate's name as it appears on the NTS
b) Name of section and section ID number printed on the NTS
c) Appointment date
d) Test Center location
e) A detailed outline of the circumstances which prevented attending the appointment
f) Documentation of the weather conditions in the affected area ( attach a weather report or travel advisory)
g) Current NTS expiration dateIf you are about to lose credit for passed part(s) only your Board of Accountancy has the authority to extend credits. You will need to contact your Board and appeal directly to them.

shawn in VAParticipantwow !!! I got lucky on that one. Took my exam on 12/10 in MD. No one bought my seat for 1500$ in Bmore MD. I believe 12/9 they were closed.
I do genuinly feel bad for those that have to wait til JAN 2 to test and perhaps not find out if they passed or failed until late jan/ early feb. That is 1 window wasted. If someone's credit expires thats REALLY bad if the state WONT extend
