Ever get that close to feeling 'good' moment before a test?

Do y’all know that feeling I’m talking about?

It’s like this for me at least:

I’ve done what feels like almost all that I can. I’ve studied and worked harder for this exam than any of the others…and harder at all four exams THAN AT ANYTHING ELSE I’VE EVER DONE.

I’ve sat in coffee shops from 7am until 7pm, then gone to my old community college until 11pm after a dinner break to study. I’ve been doing this nearly non-stop since February 12th thanks to an ability to take off of work!

I’ve done it with self-study the whole way, like many of us here. I’ve done it for me and to make a point.

And you get to that plateau when there’s not much more you can do to help yourself. You’ve done seemingly everything a reasonable person (not to mention one who has already taken this very exam and passed the other three) would do to secure a passing grade.

And then finally you push the books away, the notes, all of it and you just tell yourself:

    “I’ve got this.”

And maybe you do…but maybe you don’t?

No matter the outcome, you worked your ass off and it’s time to see if what you did was enough.

Now I can push away from the books and simply give it over to whatever portion of these exams rests in the hands of fate, luck, chance or the metaphorical blind squirrels finding some nuts.

I’m not there yet, to that feeling of relief…I will study a few more hours tonight…get up early study a few hours before my 12:30 CST appointment with Prometric.

Good work everyone…let’s show these nerd-tastic sadomasochistic-CPA-exam-author what we’re made of!

    Mhei,

Thanks for the confidence…I'm feeling pretty good!

No matter what, I'm at (mostly) at peace with what the results end up being.

Moreover, I'm damned proud of myself irrespective of what I find out on March 9, 2016!

I just hope I can sleep that night!

You're in the same boat I am – I'm taking FAR on Monday and it is also my last part. I commend you on your study habits. I'm not sure I could stick to that schedule even if I wasn't working. I would caution against spending too much more time studying at this point – you need to make sure and get some sleep and a good meal in so you are well rested and fueled. You've passed 3 parts already so you obviously know what works best for you, and what your limits are. 🙂 As far as your original question – yes, I've had that feeling on both BEC and REG. I had previously made a 74 on BEC without studying at all, so I knew I didn't have to do much more to get me over the top. For REG, I've worked in Corporate Tax for almost 10 years now so I felt more confident in it because it's what I do for a living. For AUD, I never had that feeling but never expected to. I only did one AUD class in college and I haven't had much exposure to AUD in my career. Ultimately though I think people know whether or not they've put in the work they have needed if they are honest with themselves. I treat the CPA exams like training for a marathon – you don't pass the exam on exam day. You pass the exam with all of the hours of preparation you do ahead of time. If you are prepared, all you do on exam day is show up. And, you taper a few days ahead of time to rest up and prepare yourself for an ordeal. It's a different type of ordeal, but one nonetheless. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

    @Jason

I kinda can relate to what your feeling. Taking REG on Monday and at this point, I'm ready (or at least hoping) to take on the tax portion of the exam. Gotta brush up on B-law and IRC tonight and tomorrow.

Since tax is my weakest area, I've been more dedicated to learning the material than the other 3 sections. Let's hope our efforts pay off. Good luck tomorrow

I'm sure most people give themselves pep talks before they walk in.

I tell myself, “you know this sh*t, now let's go prove it”.

    BEC - 80
    AUD - 64, 75 - credit lost, 90!!
    REG - 73, 74, 83
    FAR - 61, 72, 85

Feels good finishing on my best note. Time to watch the mailbox.
