Ethics Exam, Time Limit?

I passed my final CPA exam on 12/19/17, with my first expiration set to be 09/30/18.

Is there a time limit by which I should complete the Ethics exam?

NY requires the AICPA ethics exam last I read.
PA, where I am currently residing requires the state exam.

I aspire to move back to NY eventually (within a few years) so whether or not I actually need to take the PA exam is questionable to me.

You should only need to be concerned about the requirements for the state in which you are to be licensed. That sounds like NY, so I'd say do whatever NY requires, if that's the case.

Agree with @kittenpants – if you're not going to be licensed in PA, then don't worry about the state exam.

As for the time limit, I would check with NY. I'm in IL, and there wasn't a time limit to complete it, but I couldn't get certified without the credit. You can purchase it on the AICPA site, and you have one year (and 3 attempts) to complete the exam. It took me about an hour and a half or so. Since you're still in the middle of exams, I would say to wait and take that when you have nothing else to study or you're done with exams. I wouldn't worry about it right now.

I don't think NY requires ethics exam. Can you provide the website where you see this requirement? Now I'm worried…

NY doesn't require ethics exam, unless they changed the requirements…
