    Hi guys,

I have a friend who speaks English as a 2nd language and was considering pursuing his CPA. Is there a review course you would recommend for him to use? Also, for those in the same situation that were able to successfully pass the exams. What was your method and mode for preparation?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, it can be done even if you are out of school for many years and you have not had a career in accounting. I used Becker combined with Ninja MCQ and Ninja Audio. I believe he/she can use any of the review courses out there with success.

I followed the planning provided with the review course and did put a lot of study hours. I had the help of this great community here from answering my questions to finding encouragement.

It can definitely be done and there are many examples on this forum of people that are multi-lingual and passed the CPA exam.

Hi Languistic, it's very doable, but obviously depends on your friend's language skills. If your friend is reasonably fluent it shouldn't be a huge problem.

English is actually my third language, but I was able to pass all the exams on the first try. I've used Becker in my preparation and thought it was awesome. My recommendation would be to concentrate on understanding the concepts and overall picture rather than rushing things. It might take your friend substantially longer than an average person to get through the material, so he/she should prepared for that.

    AUD - passed
    REG - passed
    BEC - passed
    FAR - passed

I'm from China and English is my second language. My English is fine since my husband is American, but I do need to check dictionary once in a while. It is totally doable. I think Becker does a good job of summarizing the material.

    Far 10/26/2015, 64, 1/4/2016, 82
    Reg 7/10/2015, 60, 2/27/2016, 86
Aud, 5/9/2016, 74 (ouch), 7/26/2016, I cannot wait to take this test again
    Bec, 6/10/2016, 70,9/8 retake
