    Shot in the dark here, but would anybody happen to know whether/when 2017 Elijah Watt Sells Award winners will be notified/announced? Thanks!

    @forthehorns Congratulations on fantastic scores!

    My average of the 4 scores is 76.75. Does that get me some sort of award, for studying too hard and scoring above 75, on average? Haha!

    Establish a good spot for your award, so that you'll see it often and others will, too. That's an incredible accomplishment.

    Bump – anybody who thinks they may qualify to be an award winner heard anything?

    I am still waiting as well, the only thing i heard was from NASBA which told me that the AICPA would like to contact me regarding the EWS award but that they needed me to approve them sending over my contact information. That was back in April. Hope that helps.

    Glad I’m not the only one. I distinctly remember signing a form at the beginning of this whole process that released access of my scores and contact information to third parties. Do you think this is the same release of access NASBA asked you for in April, or is this something separate I would have to do?

    @forthehorns did you end up getting it? I believe I qualify but for this year rather than 2017. I am curious if it is a guaranteed lock as well!

    Hi, whats the reward of this Award?

    Unless the rules have changed I believe the 95.5 is the minimum to be considered, but the award itself only goes to the top 10 people. In 2016 the average was 98.4 or something. Also, scores on retakes are not considered.

    @kalo0. Some big 4s pay a one-time $20,000 bonus (for 2016 winners). Clearly, the award could be a tie-breaker for rapid advancement at a big 4 or maybe a university would like to have someone as a lecturer who won it.

    The CPA license itself makes no mention of it.

    I've met exactly one person who at least qualified for it, and he was a great student and only an average accountant…so it has NOTHING to do with real-world skill.

    @badasset yep, secured the bag! Your average is higher than mine, so if those are all scores from your first attempts, then sit back, relax, and just wait for the AICPA to hit you up next spring.

    @kalo0 there’s a substantial monetary award from the Big 4, but nobody speaks to the intangibles enough. I’ve been pursued a gamut of companies from investment banks to boutique consulting firms, and the prospects are all bright.

    @alloverit
    nope, as long as you score above 95.5 and pass each section on your first go at it, you’re set. The top 10 deal was done away with a handful of years ago. Also, call me biased, but the exam is the staunchest gatekeeper of the profession. It has SOMETHING to do with real-world skill.

    @forthehorns ” It has SOMETHING to do with real-world skill.” I was referring to really high scores meaning nothing….which was fairly obvious.

    You will soon find out that most of the best CPAs did not win any special awards. They spent enough time to pass and then got after it doing real work.
