Easy 3 credit Accounting class?

Currently studying full time and I have 147 credits. With a blackout month just around the corner I was hoping to knock out an easy online class.

Anyone take one that requires minimal effort? Also considering taking an accounting governmental class because I heard it helps with REG, but not sure I want anything that’s going to stress me out any more.

I've never taken an easy accounting class, but a gov class would definitely, DEFINITELY help you with FAR.

    BEC: Fall 2016
    AUD: Spring 2016
    REG: Summer 2016
    FAR: RETAKE

One class that I found fairly easy was an accounting research class. It was mostly theory. It also taught me how to use the codification.
Frenchman is right about GOV being useful for FAR. Or a tax class to prepare for REG …

Pending on your State's rules about pass/fail test out courses you could take TESC's TECEP Tax Accounting exam that is purely a pass/fail exam. It is open book…you definitely still need to know the stuff as it is timed.

I took a Forensic Accounting class that was fairly easy compared to others.

Becker's FAR is 3 credit hours.

I'm from New York so I'll be sure to check out the rules. I'm not really under a time crunch so the self paced course sounds like a good option! Thanks Blitz

@stilgoin was that an online course? I know about an LSU forensic course someone once mentionedthat was all multiple choice.

If anyone else has taken online courses from a certain university and can pass along that information here it'd be much appreciated.

If you take FAR with Becker through Devry you will earn 3 units of credit. It has to be through Devry/Keller though.

If you want to take the FAR through Devry/Keller, they have an online class starting 2/29 and the next is not until May. It's 10 weeks though. Not sure when registration closes but it might be soon. I've never taken anything through them but just signed up for it this week to get 3 credits.

@Dmb2stepper Yes. Forensic Accounting was an online summer class at Tennessee Tech University.

Be careful!!!Don't make the mistake I did! I'm a NY candidate just completed and paid for 9 credits from University of Northern Alabama, which groups with CPAexcel and just found out that the NYS says “Credits for CPA Review courses cannot be accepted toward the accounting requirement. These credits will only be counted toward the business and general education requirements.” and also UNA website just added a fun little blurb after I completed everything “*The state of New York recently indicated that these courses can be counted toward the business hours needed to sit for the exam in New York, but not the accounting hours”

It literally was just added so mad grrrrr there goes money down the drain

    BEC: 78!! (10/15)
    REG: 75!!!! (2/16)
    FAR: 72, 72, 81!!! (7/16)
    AUD:63 Retake: 9/16

    @13rittiny,
You are right! I needed 6 credit hours to hit 150 with NY, they told me the same thing. However, you can take other courses at a community college and they will be accepted.

+1 on Accounting Research. I took it at DeVry – Weekly discussions (about 7 or so posts) / one page papers answering a question or two, and a final research paper. Useful class and not entirely difficult. From what I've read on here, the LSU distance learning classes are accepted towards credit as well. I am going to be starting the Fraud Auditing class offered ASAP. If anyone has any comments on it please share!

@SpiritofGod Yeah I looked into that my community college (Nassau) offers two tax courses and in the description it says the class won't give you credit for CPA… I'm so stressed

I emailed the board asking for where I can take credits online and they said University of Phoenix and I just found out that the class is $2,000 each and I have to take 3 classes… because you know I have that type of money

    BEC: 78!! (10/15)
    REG: 75!!!! (2/16)
    FAR: 72, 72, 81!!! (7/16)
    AUD:63 Retake: 9/16
