Hey Guys,

Okay so I know that the new DRS sims are supposed to be fair game from Q3 on, but let’s say I see a DRS sim on my upcoming audit exam (which will be taken later this month in Q2), is it risky to completely leave it blank or put minimal effort into it due to the fact that it is highly probable it’s a pretest?

I took FAR on Monday and 4/7 SIMs had document review, so the new changes are here!

DRS = Document Review Simulations. A new type of simulation that will be released on July 1st exams.

Really? I thought the changes kick in starting in July. How did they feel? Were they more difficult than the normal ones?

My SIMs were hell!!! Bc 4 of 7 had document review, I had to tab back forth about 100x eating away at my time. And actually, my SIMs were a modified version of what they will have in this video below. My SIMs had a document to review, but I still need to type in my own answer. If you view the link below, the new SIMs have a document review, but it's still kinda multiple choice.

I'm using Becker too. I think they already updated our sims with DRS. It should already be in some chapters under the sims hw.

it's the luck of the draw and i got the short end of the stick for FAR! definitely gonna be taking it again in Q3. believe me i was very surprised and WAAYYYYY pissed after FAR.

The official DRS date is July 1, so it would stand to reason that they would pre-test them now to see how people do / how they work “live”, etc.

Thanks Jeff! I do worry about what they are sneaking in in advance of July and 2017. The sample DRS on AICPA sample test for REG does require a lot of time. I wish AICPA would post more so we can really prepare. I just want to take REG and be done!!!

I just took FAR on 04/25 and based on these descriptions I think I had a DRS sim. Lots of flipping back and forth to multiple spots of info to then fill in blanks on the main screen. Was a pain but not overly hard. I'm actually hoping this wasn't my pre-test question because I felt like I did decent on it and bombed a different sim i know for sure.

I took FAR last week…the DRS are awful. Going back and forth between the tabs is such a pain and takes so much time. They really need to come up with a different format or way to view the documents in order to make it more user-friendly. I feel bad for anyone who has to do these sims after the pre-test time is over.
