I’m sure someone has asked this question. I can’t seem to find a clear answer.

I want to schedule my FAR exam for next testing window. My NTS expires next month with Texas. Do I get a refund if I cancel the exam?

I noticed prometric will charge me $35 to cancel the exam.

Generally, you do not get a refund for the exam fees for canceling the exam. There are some limited exceptions. You can reschedule the exam date which is what the Prometric fees are as long as your NTS has not expired yet.

“After you receive your NTS, you need to contact Prometric through their website and arrange for a seat at the examination site of your choice. You should schedule as far in advance as possible, and must schedule at least five days in advance. To increase the likelihood that you will receive your first choice for site location and time, you should schedule your examination 45 days in advance. Your NTS is valid for a specific amount of time, which varies by state. If you do not sit by the expiration date on the NTS, that NTS becomes invalid and cannot be used. Each NTS covers more than one testing window and includes dates that are not open for testing. Plan your examination schedule carefully. We strongly recommend that you read the Candidate Bulletin and take the candidate tutorials on the AICPA’s website.”

No, the AICPA, NASBA, and Becker will pinch you for every nickel u own. I know my statement is blunt and kind of rude, but it is true. I know this because I have been penny pinched by all of them. Lol.

Anyhow, let's keep our eye on the Prize – the CPA designation.

    Goodluck!

@brenda_inabox I agree with @blue collar nerd, it's one of the many ways for them to take more of our money. I am from Texas as well and I hate that our NTS is only good for 90 days. You absolutely have to know you are ready to take it that quarter, or you'll be screwed out of your exam fees.

Also, if you are positive that you are not going to take the exam, then don't cancel it through Prometric or they make you pay the $35 fee. Just don't show up and you won't pay that fee.
