Do MCQs really reinforce the concepts?

I’m struggling with some parts of Cost Accounting while studying for BEC. Should I be overtly concerned or can I be confident that hammering MCQs will help me to better understand the material? I still have 3 weeks before my exam.

I'm tired of operating in fear and mediocrity. It's time to try. It's time to do. It's time to go.

yes they can but you have to use them correctly. i depended heavily on ninja mcq's to pass BEC. i also had the ninja book and watched some free youtube videos.

you can't just hammer through them. you have to take the time to work through the questions and problems presented to know the calculations and understand the concepts. the questions will be different on the exam so you have to prepare to answer all likely questions on the topic.

the mcq's are a great learning tool when used as such.

First off, thanks for the quick response. Second, I was thinking of using them the way you suggested; taking my time to thoroughly understand what is being asked and actually working through the calculations in an attempt to better understand. At this point, I've listened to the lecture, read the text and still do not quite understand everything as I'd like to. Youtube is going to be on my list of things to do in a minute LOL

miles capital budgeting video on youtube is good. he starts in a yellow shirt then inserts a review on PV wearing a blue shirt. you can skip if you don't need it and resume when he is back in the yellow shirt. it saved me a lot of time learning the calculations.
for variances i reviewed that chapter in my principles of managerial acctg book. roger has a video on those that i thought was ok but a little over the top.
    good luck!!

if you are struggling understanding some concepts, you will probably have to do some research about it on your own. obviously the review course you used didn't click with you and if you still aren't understanding it after practicing some MCQs, you have to keep digging until you understand. cost accounting was my weakness with BEC as well so i had to use any and every resource until i understood it. i scored comparable in that section once i finally passed.

Usually I'm able to follow along with Roger's just fine, however when we got to cost accounting I just fell behind in my understanding. I'll visit Miles' video in hopes that it will help me. Thanks for the suggestion. Specifically, I got lost on variable & absorption costing and again on overhead variances.
