Dilemma during the wait time for scores

    Hello,

    I have a dilemma for what to do while waiting. I took FAR on 7/19 and as usual I cannot tell how the scoring is going to go. I passed the other three and AUD expires on 7/30. Assuming Massachusetts allows me to keep it with a passing FAR grade, I do not know what to do while I wait. Its very possible I failed FAR and would need to take that and AUD again. Seeing that the scores are taking around 10 weeks I won’t have much time as I lose BEC on 11/30. Another thing to consider is that my study materials expire this week. So if I decide to study early I would need to buy additional items now with a chance I won’t need it at all. Waiting until mid-september for my scores isn’t exactly comforting either as I would have to squeeze AUD and FAR in 2 months. What would you do? My firm would reimburse part of my additional study materials.

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 79
    REG - August
    FAR - TBD

    Greetings to a fellow MA license candidate. Credit for passing is effective as of the date you took the exam, so if you passed FAR, then congrats, you're done. You will not qualify for the 3 month extension, because if even under the older score release schedule, you would not have been able to retake FAR in Q3. The auto-three month extension only applies to Q2. If I were in your shoes, as sick as it would make me, I would buy the materials for AUD and start studying. I took it prior to the format change, as did you, but I understand it is one of the exams that was more materially changed. The alternative is to retest for both in Q4, as you say, and then if you lose the BEC credit, you risk a sort of cascade failure that I would want to avoid at all costs.

    If you're getting reimbursed then what you're spending now is a portion of the study materials + an additional two months of studying as needed as insurance against a negative outcome. To me, it'd be worth it.

    All the best.

    I wouldn't be as worried about the study materials as the turnaround and scheduling for a new NTS.

    If you want to play it super safe, submit a re-application for FAR and AUD now. If you passed, you've wasted about $500. If you failed, you'll be able to schedule right away.

    Depending on what you're using for study, you could start saving down your study materials this week. I started saving down pdf's of my Gleim test bank and answers a while back.

    You can't get an NTS for a section you have passed(until it expires) or you haven't received the score for yet. So you wouldn't be able to apply until you got your score back.

    Thanks for all the responses

    @Radez
    I am not expecting the extension so it all boils down to this result. I feel the test went decent but not confident on passing for sure.

    I will probably end up biting the bullet and buy some materials. I had Becker before but I think I will seek out cheaper options. It'll be so painful to do all this for nothing but the joy of passing will overcome that, plus if I do “pre-study” ill be ahead of the game if I do fail. So I should study i guess. I will probably wait for a few more weeks to so it won't be too long where I run the risk of forgetting some things.

    I do audit everyday so re-taking that one won't be the end of the world, but I really disliked BEC and I want to make sure I dont have to take that one again, especially with them adding the SIMS.

    I work with someone who is in the same boat.. Come score release they'll either be a CPA or only halfway there, I don't know if I could bounce back from that.
