I originally jumped into this whole mess working for an investment firm that doesn’t qualify as experience for the CPA designation. I figured I would pass the test first and worry about the experience once I had to cross that bridge.

Did anyone else go this route?

I have not, but you might want to check with your board. In my state (MA) you can work for 3 years in private sector under a CPA in a non-entry level position and it will count toward experience…. I think in some states if you have a graduate degree, the experience might be waived as well…
