Hi. I am planning to apply for CPA Exam and I had a quick question about the accounting courses.

I did my bachelors in Economics and to get 150 credits, I took all the accounting courses online at a community college. I applied to Florida Board of Accountancy and they didn’t accept my classes saying that they were not upper division.

Does anyone know if any board of accountancy will accept community college classes? Does every board requires accounting courses from 4 years school?

I would really appreciate if anyone has been in this situation and knows the Answer.

Not all states require upper level accounting courses. Massachusetts and Michigan, for example, do not. It would help to know your coursework breakdown, and how you plan to fulfill the experience requirement.

24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours to include the following: Auditing, cost, three (3) semester hours or four (4) quarter hours of financial accounting and three (3) semester hours or four (4) quarter hours of taxation based on USA Accounting Standards.

TOTAL UPPER DIVISION GENERAL BUSINESS HOURS:
24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours to include: three (3) semester hours or four (4) quarter hours business law based on USA Law.”

Does it mean that if I studied abroad and I didn't have USA accounting and law, I don't meet requirements?
