Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) the premier body regulating tax laws in India on Friday, June 12th 2020 published Cost Inflation Index (CII) for Financial Year 2020-2021 or Assessment Year 2021-2022 vide Notification No. 32/2020. Cost Inflation Index helps taxpayer calculation Long Term Capital Gain on sale of Long Term Capital Assets.
The Cost Inflation Index multiplier to be used for AY 2021-2022 notified is ‘301’.
Cost Inflation Index notified for AY 2020-2021, i.e. for the previous year is ‘289’.
Cost Inflation Index:- Past Cost inflation index (CII) as notified by Central Government along with analysis of the same is as under from Financial Year 2000-01 to 2020-21:
