my day has been super crazy!!!!
I'm going to tell you all about it, then I'm going to study.
First I dropped the dog off at the vet's for an allergy shot and an aloe bath. He's a 70# lab and I can usually control his allergies in the spring with Benedryl, Not. This. Year. Poor guy is about to scratch himself silly.
I have been able to get some work done and was on the phone with a client discussing a payroll issue and my 16 yo son keeps calling my cell phone. I hit the “I'm in a meeting” auto text reply. He kept calling, so I asked the client to excuse me for a minute and answered the phone. He was on his way home from work and was driving behind a truck. Some wood fell off the truck and he couldn't avoid hitting it. his right front tire was shredded. He pulled into a parking lot and went to change the tire. The spare (donut tire) came off the rim when he went to put it on the wheel. He had put both tires in the trunk, left the car on the jack, and was walking home – about 8 miles!
I took about 2 & 1/2 hours off work to go get him, put the flat tire back on and take the car off the jack.
Then I headed back to work and stopped at the vet's to pick up my dog. I took him to work with me for the rest of the day. my coworker in the office next to mine had a big cooler in his office, so I left my door open but put his cooler across so my dog could see out but not run loose up and down the hallways. He's a pretty calm dog and when people walked by he would go to the door and wag his tail, but he never barked or tried to jump over the cooler. Another co-worker needed my QuickBooks assistance with a client and he came to my office so we could work on them. I asked him to come look at this transaction, and the says “I'm petting your dog, you just fix it for me!”. Then one of the lower level staff members who's work I review came to my office, climbed over the cooler, and sat in my extra chair for about 5 minutes petting my dog while I was fixing the first co-worker's issue. I asked her if she needed me or she just wanted to pet the dog. She had a question about a client, but was going to pet the dog until I was finished fixing the other co-worker's problem and then she would ask me.
That was pretty entertaining.
One of the partners brings his dog (a yellow Lab) to work almost every day. A good portion of the staff keep doggie treats in their office for him.
I really like where I work.
