Cheating on CPA Exam

I saw a thread on here a while back asking if anyone ever knew of someone cheating on the exam. I learned the other week that my neighbor works at Prometric, so I asked her if she’s ever seen anything.

She said they’ve busted people a few times, and usually it was people bringing in small note cards with information written on it and using it at their desk. However, she said they think the people they busted are people who work for the AICPA and sent people in undercover to make sure Prometric was doing their job. There’s no way to know for sure, but this is their suspicion.

A Prometric lady told me they busted 2 people for talking about exam content in the bathroom during their break.

I don't think they were really trying to cheat, but they might be disqualified now. Yikes!

How can you talk about exam content in the break when you can't take a break until the testlet is over?

Talking about what you saw on the teslet(s) already completed. If I ran into you in the restroom and I'd finished three testlets and you were just starting or had only finished two.

the people at the prometric site I went to said that they catch people trying to cheat at least once every couple of weeks. She didn't say it was specific to the CPA exam though, as they have a lot of different tests going on there. She said the last person they caught was taking an engineering test.

No joke, the people at my testing center said they recently caught someone with a tiny camera built into a necklace locket…therefore you weren't allowed to wear any necklaces at that prometric testing center anymore

I didn't know you could repeat exam content to others?! I tell Peyton everything about what was on the exam. Peyton is my fish. haha. jk.

If someone can pass merely by getting info during bathroom break, they deserve to pass. Seriously testlets are different n most people don't have time to review their notes during those bathrooms breaks. N if you can't understand a concept before the exam, you wouldn't be able to figure it out even if you had a text book in front of you for 10 mins. I never used the al for simquestions bc it took too much of the time n most of the time I can't find the answer

Its gotta be tough to cheat on the CPA exam. Throughout my Prometric experiences, I felt like I was one small procedure away from a full-blown strip search and cavity check. That is crazy the AICPA sends moles to sit for the exam!

@CPA2BEE, moles probably provide the best way to measure the controls at Prometric. Who better to see if they are ad-hearing to the rules than someone inside trying to break them.
