    Hi ,

I had Pass FAR, REG and now studying for BEC and then AUD. My exam is scheduled for MAY 7 for BEC and AUD for 10th june . Its hard to focus and i am loosing hope . Really exhausted. I had to pass by Nov 30 all 4 parts. It took me 2 attempts for reg and 3 for FAR. I was thinking i have 3 windows left and i have three chances to pass. But i am so stress out that i cannot focus. Problem with me is my first attempt i sit only to see where i stand in knowledge. I usually get between 60-65. Second attempt my score shoot up by 10 points. BEC i am scoring between 60-70 depending on MC. Also i have no speed in typing for sims and my writhing skills are bad , so i had to focus more on MC as it 80% of the BEC exam .And that not it , on top of it i am horrible test taker. MY confidence level is low .Just to gauge myself i took BEC after studying for 3 weeks and got 60. Now i know where i stand. Any advise how to over come my weakness. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    1. Stop taking sections just to see where you stand. It's a waste of time and money.

    2. MCQ is 85% of the BEC score, not 80.

    3. If you want to get better at writing/typing, practice it. Write anything – a description of your day, how to make a perfect poached egg, a fairy tale – anything that forces you to write multiple sentences on the same topic.

    4. Calm down. Panicking, both now and at test time, fixes absolutely nothing.

What are you doing to study for the exams?

I also had no speed in typing and I had 40 days to prepare the BEC.
For typing speed every day, I started typing main points of what I was studying for that day and this help me to write all 3 WC in 45 minutes on exam day.

    Is English your second language?

    -----------------------------
    BEC - 77, 03/2015 (first try)
    FAR - 79, 05/2015 (second try)
    REG - 83, 12/2015 (first try)
    AUD - 84, 03/2015 (first try)

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

Of course you can PUSH. Just remember what they taught you in Lamaze Class and concentrate on your breathing.

    Thank you all.
I am using Roger lectures , Becker MC and Wiley book for MC.
I do not like Becker lectures. Roger lectures are good but i think their test bank is not enough.
Becker MC are lot and its time consuming to finish each chapter's MC.
I am thinking to get Ninja.

Yes English is my second language . I do speak well but when it come to writing its weak . I am really confused as what review MC is good for preparation .. Also i have picked up my book after 15 years and no previous US GAAP experience. Just learning through review course. It was just like i am new to accounting profession .
Tell me that , with 60 score is Becker MC enough to pass the exam . If yes i will just do Becker and stick to it. I think since i am using to much flavor its hard to focus.
Thanks and let me know what strategy you all suggest.

just remember if it was so easy, everyone would be a CPA. Accept the challenge, you can do it.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

I can see how with English being your 2nd language the writing part could be tricky. Just remember they look for keywords so use as many “it” words as you can.

If the carrot ( the CPA license ) won't motivate you, then perhaps the fear of losing credit will. Because that is what will happen if you do not change your habits and mental expectations. You must drill down and do whatever it takes to pass by November. Taking the exams to see where you stand is basically doing the least possible work , rolling the dice and hoping you might pass. You must shake yourself up and change your routine. Create a plan , a vision board. Get real with yourself and ask yourself why you are doing this. If you aren't serious about being done by November then you run the risk of dragging this on indefinitely.

It's a delicious carrot once caught. I found out on March 9th that I passed my last one and every weekend, especially on “sunday funday”, it still hits me that “holy crap, I am done”.

lol – Instead of studying all weekend my wife and I now enjoy unlimited mimosas at a local brunch spot while sitting outside (yay for warm weather state).

We are also moving into a new place next week and I was able to change my regular hours to 7-4. I will be less than a mile from the office. So it's gonna be a pool day ERRRREYDAY!

CPA007, try to remember what worked for you and how you learned best in college. I can't imagine doing this as an ESL student – I'm sure that makes it more difficult. But, only you know how you learn best. I agree with others too – think about why you want this and how the CPA helps you to accomplish your goals. I had problems at times with focusing and staying motivated, but all I'd have to do is either remember how elated I'd feel once done, and how all of my previous effort to pass prior exams would be a complete waste of time if I didn't finish what I had started. I found out I passed my last exam on March 10th and it feels amazing. I still can't get used to having my free time back but it's such a relief. You can do it!

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

Thank you all . I wish best of luck to each one of you. I really appreciate your comments and motivation . I took 4 days off and now i am back in the game. Trying to re-watch lectures and hit MC. I find budget MC are very lengthy . Is it worth spending time on hard calculation in cost, variance, budget and ratio questions. some are really complex. Also on written communications do they ask to write on FAR and Aud topics .
