So I got myself in a pickle. I was planning on rescheduling my exam but client work came up and I kept forgetting. I logged onto the Prometric site and there is a $75 cancelation fee for my exam tomorrow.

If I cancel, do I get to keep my NTS? Otherwise, why would I pay a fee and then need to pay for a new NTS anyways?

Your NTS is valid until its expiration date or until Prometric reports you sat or no-showed. The $75 cancellation fee is a Prometric fee and if you pay it, they won't report you as a no-show to NASBA.

So if you plan on re-scheduling your exam prior to your NTS's expiration, pay the $75. If your NTS will expire before you plan on sitting, no-show and save your money.

@PNS2CLT I see what you did there – So what does a No-Show mean to NASBA? Is there any significance to us after we've passed all 4 exams?

Why not just show up especially if you are going to lose the nts? It helps I think to see how the real test is like as well as get over test day jitters. After all if you bomb the test…can only get better right?

I'll show up, especially if I live in the area. As a Canadian resident, that is a treat for me. I wish I could write my exams every month or two.

Anyway, ready or not, I did it in 2017 Q1 (WA) & Q3 (NV) – 2 sets of 4 sections (w/in 1-2 weeks span).*

Not recommended of course, but I was glad I showed up.*
Barely studied, 1-2 weeks for 2017 Q1 and 2-3 days/per section for 2017 Q3.*

*Please note though, I am an old CPA candidate, formerly passed Blaw (BEC), AUD & REG, lost credit in 2010.
Restarted recently, with all 4 sections. Recently pass AUD again in 2017 Q3.

It cost me few $$$$, (10 days (WA) & 12 days (NV), plus new sets of FAR/REG/BEC Ninja Sniper products to go with each section for the home run.

Was it worth it? Yes. Since I was able to see what the new exams like – all 4 sections. It gave me confidence for my next exams. Something to hope for. Great motivation as well. I have a new lifeline, even just for the 18months.

If you are planning on reapplying for your NTS and taking that exam in the same window then you cannot no-show. If you no-show you have to wait until the next window to take that test.

A no-show for the exam does not constitute a candidate actually taking the exam. Let say for example, that your AUD NTS expires on 2/20/2018. You are scheduled for the AUD exam on 1/1/2018, but you do not take the exam. Since you did not take the exam, there is no score information to report. Your AUD NTS is no longer valid because you are a no-show and you should be able to re-register within about 5 business days of the no-show and schedule the exam in the same Jan/Feb window as soon as you receive that new AUD NTS.

@SGood – Thanks! This is exactly what I wanted to know but can't find anywhere. I scheduled my first exam in February of 2016 and no showed. Didn't actually take my first exam until Feb 2017. I thought this may have counted as an attempt. I know schools keep track of number of attempts for their graduates. Happy represent my alma mater with a 4/4!!

I never heard of school keeping track of attempts. Maybe I have been out of school for too long (graduated almost four years ago).
