    Hello,

I am taking audit tomorrow and plan to start study for REG starting this Saturday. I am taking the test on 4/2 so I have little over a month to study for it (I am working full time). I will get ninja MCQ only and I have 2015 Jan version of Wiley study guide.

I think I will be okay with 2015 wiley study guide paperbook (I have pdf version) but other parts, but I am little concerned as REG deals with taxation. Do you guys think it is okay if I use it as long as Ninja is updated up to date?

Also I would like to hear some tips for BEC if possible. I only have 2 weeks to study for it.

    Thanks!

Materials: Wiley book + Ninja MCQ

    FAR - 83 (Jan 2016)
    Study time: 6 weeks
    BEC - 87 (April 2016)
    Study time: 2 weeks
    AUD - 92 (July 2016), (74 Feb 2016), (72 May 2016)
    Study time: 4 (Feb) + 2 (May) + 3 (July) = 9 weeks total
    REG - (70 April 2016)
    Study time: 3 weeks

You should be fine for REG with 2015 information. I've already taken REG, but all I can say is keep in mind that there are only 90 questions (with 15% or so pretested), so there aren't enough questions to ask you specifics on everything. Also – look up the forms and schedules on IRS.gov. I think it helps people understand tax better if they see how items are reported and how the schedules and forms relate to each other.

I hope you are not working while studying – you must be wanting to get these exams knocked out quickly! For BEC, just remember it is a mile wide and inch deep. I'm not saying the specifics don't matter, but the concepts are far more important. Don't spend much time studying the written responses. You get so many points by repeating what the question is asking in your intro and repeating your response in the conclusion. If you know your MCQ's, that will give you the technical knowledge needed for the body.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

    Thank you jdn,

I thought REG/BEC is 3 hour test, so probably less than 90 multiple choice questions unlike FAR/AUD?

I will try to look form and schedule on IRS.

I am working full time in public accounting, but hours are not bad (usually 40) at this time and I mainly study at work couple hours after work.

BEC was 3 hrs; I can't remember how long REG was to be honest with you. Both still have 90 MCQ's. BEC is different because only 3 WC's as opposed to 6 or 7 SIMS (for AUD and FAR). I think REG had either 6 or 7 SIMS (with one being pretested – not graded), but I can't remember. Good luck!

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

@mhei8116 we're in almost the exact same boat. I have REG scheduled for 4/2. BEC scheduled for mid-April but that's unrealistic for me so i'll probably move it to May. I purchased NINJA MCQ and that will be my main method of studying but i also have the pdf 2014 Wiley study guide and 2015 Wiley Focus Notes. I'm confident that i'll be ok with 2014-15 materials and hopefully NINJA MCQ will be updated with 2016 relevant data. I just started studying on Feb 24 so I have a long way to go (but this isn't my first time sitting for this section). Best of luck to you! Keep me updated if you need a motivational buddy!

    AUD - 74, 81
    BEC - TBD
    REG - 68, 71, 68, 4/2/16
    FAR - TBD
