Can you pass the CPA exam if you use just the Wiley books for example, and Ninja mcqs?

    Yes.

I downlaoded FAR and BEC for WTB and thought it was very descriptive. All the review course offers you is the lectures and their MCQ software. NINJA MCQ is more than sufficient to help you pass the exam. However, I just prefer the lectures only because there are some areas that it's better taught. But books + NINJA MCQ = totally possible. I know if you get the WTB in document format, there are questions in there. My advice for these exams is USE more than one testbank. You'll benefit.

    BEC 80 (10/23/15)
    FAR 72 (4/2/15); 83 (7/11/16)
    REG 52 (4/28/15)
    AUD (9/9/16)

I passed BEC with 77 just using Wiley book and test bank. It's possible, but it's not my preferred way of studying.

    BEC 7/12 - PASS
    REG 8/17
    AUD 9/8
    FAR 10/15

AUD & BEC I passed with Becker self-study

FAR & REG I used $47 NINJA MCQ & leftover hardcopy Becker books because Becker login expired.

Scores the same across the board. Same amount of time used for both methods. And because arguably REG&FAR are way harder than BEC&AUD the results speak for themselves.

I don't know how this applies to other people. but to me it confirms what I already knew: I study better from books. I wish I had access to the highlighted Becker e-book for FAR® instead of the actual books that I had. That would have shaved significant time off of my studying. Instead I had to resort reading the books cover to cover basically. Although who knows maybe that actually helped.

To answer your question: no you probably can't pass with just books alone you need MCQ as well. But books plus MCQ/testbank you absolutely can pass.

I used Becker, I did all the MCQ for FAR the first time I took it. I failed. I retook it over a year later and that time I only used the book–ran out of time and didn't do ANY MCQ. I squeaked by with a 76.

I think the book provides, me personally, a lot more value than the MCQ. I've always been great with testing and multiple choice questions so as long as I know the concepts, I'm usually fine.

It really depends on how you learn though.

I passed using only test banks.

    BEC - 80
    FAR - 81 (third attempt)
AUD - waiting for score 8/23
REG - 09/08/2016 - going to cram and wing it

Absolutely. I think reading the books make you focus more on the material. It is easy to let your mind wander when listening to lectures.

    AUD - 96
    BEC - 88
    FAR - 88
    REG - TBS

    Depends entirely on you.

I know I prefer reading the book to doing multiple choice – Audit and BEC I felt were easy to pass by just reading the book.

For Regulation – I primarily read the book but did feel that their was added value to doing multiple choice. I feel the same with FAR but given I haven't passed it yet, throw anything I have to say about FAR out the window!

(For what it's worth I tried both Becker and Yaeger lectures and hated them)

I passed all exam with just the Wiley books. No ninja stuff too. Just the books. Totally doable if you put in the time to learn the materials.

    BEC - Passed - 7/27/15 - 25%
    FAR - Passed - 10/1/15 - 50%
    REG - Passed - 4/19/16 - 75%
    AUD - Schedule - 5/24/16

I passed my exams with quite a few less study-hours than most people, using the Wiley books and test bank. Wiley books and NINJA MCQs would be the same for practical purposes. I read the books cover-to-cover (except the end-of-chapter practice questions and appendixes, but did read examples, and every word of every chapter), then drilled in the test bank for a couple weeks (got through most but not all of the MCQs for most exams), then took the exam. Passed all 4 on the first try, while working, first exam end of May, last one very start of October.

Whether or not it will work depends on whether you learn like me (and others who have passed) or like people who need lectures or need audio etc. Different methods of learning work better for different people. But for me? I had a family member tell me at the end of tax season that I could never pass the CPA exams with books only, needed to find live classes (nearest ones 1.5 hours away), etc. By Thanksgiving, my licensing packet was sent off; he never mentioned the CPA again, guess he realized that what I can do and what his friend could do were different things. 😛

That's what I did. Passed 4 at first attempt with Wiley.

I didn't use videos or audio. I read all the Gleim books, did all their work to get the lifetime guarantee, then did all the Ninja questions. But I will say the Gleim SIMS were helpful. I remember the Ninja ones were weak for AUD. So you will need to do some SIMS and that you will need to pay for.

I would not have passed with just Gleim books and Ninja. I needed the Gleim SIMS although the Ninja questions are way better.

    AUD - 74, 99 !!
    REG - 74, 92
    BEC - 83
    FAR - 73, 86
