Can somebody explain computer operators vs users?

    Users authorize and record transactions, use system output, and are responsible for correcting errors.

    Computer operators maintain and run daily computer operations.

    These are what Ninja says for the two… but I guess I’m still confused since the descriptions sound similar to me.

    Computer oprators are IT staff with responsibilty to run system jobs – typically mainframe operations.
    Users are employees who create their own spreadsheets or access and input data into applications to do their jobs in other non-IT depts of the company.

    Biff… just to be clear… when someone who works in IT writes a memo in a word document, updates a spreadsheet, or some other mundane task, they are Users. Even the computer operator could function as a user when performing non-IT specific tasks unrelated to his/her duties as an operator. I just want to be clear that there are times that IT staff can be Users, too.
