I got back into public accounting in November at the age of 31. I began my career in public and didn’t take the exam seriously – I took BEC and REG and failed both times. In December I told myself it would be too hard to try to study and pass a section before busy season was in full swing. I decided I would give REG a shot because I work in tax and I thought that knocking one section out before the exam changes would be a good confidence booster. I studied and studied and took my exam on 2/23. I honestly didn’t feel like I studied enough but I stayed up last night to see a 79 and I couldn’t be happier. I didn’t dominate the exam like many of you but I am stoked about this win. Although REG was the section I am most familiar with, it was still difficult. This win is making me really feel like I can do this if I am disciplined. Anyone else go from feeling like you could never pass the exam to seeing the light? I just keep telling myself that its one section at a time.
