Can I pass BEC in 35 days?

Hi everyone! I am very new to this forum thing but I like what everyone here has to say so here goes nothing!

So, I got a 61 on my first test on Audit in February. It wasn’t unexpected, I didn’t study as well as I could have and I knew it. I really was just hoping for a miracle. I am using Becker and I am writing off the pre-recorded lectures altogether because I feel like I am just not listening to it (it would probably be the same if I did a live-course).

At the beginning of March, I was very motivated but then got overwhelmed with work and the last two weeks I have totally skipped studying for drinking/partying. I also was battling with MAJOR second guessing of my career decisions because I don’t love accounting at all. But I am committed and I want to pass the CPA so I can take it to wherever my career ends up taking me. Pass the CPA to get out of accounting, I know that might make no sense but I like being able to fall back on it… if what I actually want to do doesn’t pan out.

Sidenote: Until yesterday, I was seeing a girl who was so much fun, but I had to end it because I want to focus on the CPA. I wasn’t too emotionally invested, still hurt though (if you’re wondering), but I had to do what I had to do. I have no regret in that decision.

Anyways, what can I do to pass this exam on May 2nd? (34 days if you consider the fact I won’t be studying tonight) Should I push it back or is it possible for me to get it done? I am really struggling to figure out a study routine but I feel like nixing the pre-recorded lectures will save me so much more time this go around to have substantial studying sessions. I feel like I wasted way too many hours watching those videos and retaining none of it.

    Thank you!

In my opinion (sorry for the girl stuff), I would either retake AUD while it is fresh or start over with FAR. FAR is usually the beast for most and to pass it to start your 18 month window would be awesome!

Reschedule BEC before Prometric charges you 35 bucks. Trust me- I have paid way too many of those fees. The last caveat – Does your BEC NTS expire soon?

    FAR: 63, 55, 62
    REG: 65, 77*
    AUD: Fail, 64, 71
    BEC: 72, 74, 81

    *expired

I took BEC first and passed it, which gave me motivation for the rest. I did it in 5 weeks as well, so yeah BEC is definitely doable in 35 days.

    BEC: Passed (8/31)
    AUD: Passed (11/20)
    FAR: Passed (2/26)
    REG: 5/22

^I am big fan now that I have started over of working on the same exam until you pass unless it is at the start of a testing window

    FAR: 63, 55, 62
    REG: 65, 77*
    AUD: Fail, 64, 71
    BEC: 72, 74, 81

Yeah. Just aim to get one chapter done during the week, and then hammer out another chapter over the weekend. If you feel like you're having a life or having fun, you're not doing it right. I don't listen to lectures either. I'll occasionally listen if theres conceptual stuff I'm having an issue memorizing or understanding, but otherwise, I don't need to be told to highlight and underline. Im not an auditory learner at all

    AUD: 98
    REG: 91
    BEC: 86
    FAR: 83

DONE DONE DONE and DONE all on the first try! It IS possible, just keep on studying!

The length of time is going to vary, but yes BEC is doable in 35 days. I did it in 4 but could have easily done it in 3 (BEC was my first and it took me a good week to get into a good studying pattern). With that being said, I think you should push that one back and go back to AUD. Otherwise, you're going to spend so much more time later on because I doubt you will remember much of what you studied from early on this year. Regarding the lectures – again, it depends on the type of learner you are. For BEC and REG, I eliminated half of the lectures by pretesting myself over MCQ's from every section. I'd take a 20 question quiz and if I made a 70 or higher, I'd skip the lectures. If you are completely lost, then I don't think the lectures are a waste of time. But, you get to a point to where you only learn how to do a computation by practicing with problems. I learn by doing, so watching someone else only helps me if I'm lost and don't know where to begin.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

It is doable full time…. I passed BEC studying 3.5 weeks full time… depends on how much time you're willing to put in per day. I think if any exam can be passed in that short of a time frame it would be BEC and/or AUD because they are smaller in size (not necessarily easier).

    Hi everyone.
I'm in the beginning of B3 (Becker book) and I'm taking the exam April 21st. BEC is my first exam and English is not my primary language.
Is it doable to pass the exam with 3.5 chapters left and only 3 weeks to review them and do my final review?

    To OP and @boussarsar –

Totally doable in the amount of time you guys have. If there is an exam to “squeeze” in like that, BEC is the one. Just practice, practice, practice lots of MCQs. Study the structure of the written communications and you should be good, those are easy points.

    FAR - 80
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    REG - 85

    ETHICS - 90

With good study habits and so on, I think 35 days is doable especially for BEC. Didn't one of Jeff's podcasts say six to eight weeks study time is ideal?
