Can a Testlet be considered "Difficult" if……

A lot of the questions asked were very short and too the point? I used becker and studied diligently for 5 weeks for BEC and got to my second testlet and kept getting these short one sentence definition questions that I had never heard of. For the most part, in other sections, I have not been “thrown off” by the types of questions that were asked (in other words, I had at least seen the material once). For this, these questions were completely foreign. Even though many of these were not calculation questions, could they still be considered part of the difficult testlet ( for what its worth, I think I did well on the first testlet)?

The fact that you scored in the 90's on your other tests makes it hard to believe you weren't prepared. It is possible to see questions that are not covered, but if you are seeing a lot of them, they were probably pretest. Also, just because it's short doesn't mean it's easy. Difficulty is based on how people have done on the question in the past. If it is from new content, it could be short and difficult.

I would consider a lot of the questions I received in later MCQ short and to the point too. I passed. (and I'm sure my score will be lower than yours!)

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)
    REG - August 27th, 2016

I wouldn't worry about it. I agree with the posters above me – the length of the question doesn't necessarily indicate the level of difficulty. Also, I've read that you can have somewhat easier questions sprinkled in difficult testlets. I took BEC last August, so my memory is fuzzy. I do remember having more concept-based questions than I expected. I was actually worried after the exam because BEC seemed easy to me. I'm sure with your scores on your prior exams, you did just fine.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

I took Bec last week, i also studied with Beckers with these page long questions, my first testlet was very easy, the next two which i was expecting long page questions didnt show up, rather i also got one or two sentence with minimal info. That seems to be the consensus with everyone who recently took it.

    FAR-76 First attempt.
    AUD-79 First attempt.
    REG-79 First attempt.
    BEC-79 First attempt.

    Done!

I had the same experience w/ Reg and it has been killing me for the last two weeks. I had one liners all the way through. We'll know tonight!

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

@donteven – you should kind of be able to answer the question based on your past experiences. Your scores are great, but did you feel that you could tell that the testlet difficulty was increasing? (Not meant to sound condescending, hopefully it doesn't sound like that).

I have heard one person on this board say that BEC was easy and had the same feelings as you walking out, like they knew everything that was asked and nothing was a surprise and they ended up passing with flying colors (I think it was in the 80s but could have been the 90s).

I took BEC on the 27th and based on the time I used the testlets may have gotten harder, but I didn't notice a world of difference from one testlet to the next. I don't know what to expect tomorrow =(

    I suspect that you passed.

I definitely think I have a great shot at passing (I at least prepared enough)…I was just curious whether difficult questions could be short….if they can't that means I didn't do as well as I thought on testlet one. Does it really matter at this point….NO, but I was looking for anything to pass the time until midnight… thanks for the responses!
