Are there any California CPAs on here who could tell me how long it took to get their license issued?

I got my final exam score on 9/20/16. I sent in my application and my check for $250 that day, so they probably got it on the 22nd. The CBA has not yet cashed my check. I know it’s a process (like everything with the CBA), but I’m wondering how long it took before you guys received your license number.

I had already taken care of everything else and sent it all in previously.

I went ahead and emailed the state today rather than Monday.

It would be nice to get the license number today so I could count for audit committee purposes. Otherwise I will count for the next quarterly meeting. They want 100% of internal auditors to be certified in something even if not CPA. I don't even need the certificate; just give me the number yo!

Emailing the state after a month worked. I got my license number by email. I can still count as certified on the next audit commitee meeting.

Congratulations Dewdewyah and Track55 for being a new CPA! My supervisor (who just signed my experience paper) is telling everybody that I am a new CPA in town. I told him that it would take a few more months to get certified due to CBA process though. People are already congratulating me…. ZZZ

At my company they mentioned out loud I had passed the last section, but the company-wide email didn't go out till I had the state letter asking for $120 license fee. So yeah, you'll be getting congratulations for a while, but like you said you're not a CPA quite yet cause it takes forever for the state to send the letter then cash your check/money order.

But at least they were nice to you.

Got my certificate Saturday so now the cycle is complete.

I had to pay the mailman $1.00 since the state didn't put enough postage, but I'm glad to have it. And I just found out I was mentioned in CalCPA magazine recently. Wow, this was a good month.

Thanks guys! Mine took 4 freakin months to get a license number issued from the time I initially sent in my application. Granted, there was a hiccup in the process because the first experience form I sent in was not acceptable by the board and I had to send in a new one, so that added at least 30 days to the process. Assuming you have everything in your application, I would expect it to be roughly a 2 month process or maybe a little more. Good luck!

CBA is so soooooooooo slow! It's unbeliviable. I sent in my application after the Labor Day, paid the initial licensing fee in the middle of November and still don't have the license number. Everything was in order with my application. It's been almost four months at this point. Meanwhile, my friends in another state get licensed in a week, A WEEK!

@madhatter you gotta be close. I sent my licensing fee in the middle of November and just got a number last week. The CBA is brutal but I'd bet by the end of the week you have a number.

@CPA2BEE, I really hope so. I've been following people's timelines here and appears that mine has already been longer. I think more than the license I just want my employer to reimburse me for the fees 🙂

I am MERELY hoping that all my stuff is submitted in time because I DO NOT want to TAKE the accounting ethics course.

Still haven't received my license number. No idea what's wrong with CBA.

Finally got my number and really happy about it. After I emailed the last time, someone from CBA said it's taken too long and she will personally take care of it. I sent her back one paper and she did take care of it.

From my interaction with the CBA, I feel like they try their best but might not have have enough staff to deal with everything. After all, they do seem to issue more than a hundred licenses each month. Plus they have to deal with exam applications, etc. etc. They are always very responsive to emails though.
