Business Law really that heavily tested?

I just purchased the Ninja MCQ for REG, is Bus. Law really that heavily tested that there are 750 questions on that topic alone? I have 4 weeks from my re-take and I’m beginning to study today and I figured I’d spend the majority of my time on Tax and then look over Bus. Law. Guess I may have to change up my study strategy.

    AUD: (65)(66) 77
REG: (66) (48) destroyed me mentally.....
    FAR: (68) (66)(69)(71)
    BEC: (63) 75

I don't remember much Business Law on the exam. I can say this much. I spent WAY too much time on Business Law. Wasted valuable study time I could have used for the more important tax topics.

I have heard both that it is and it isn't. It is really going to be the luck of the draw because it can be. However, my best piece of advice is to gain a “”gist” knowledge of it. The UCC stuff and contracts are important. It has been almost a year since I took REG so I cannot remember too much more.

Personal tax is a must! If you know any one topic inside and out it should be personal tax.

It's definitely on the exam so you should take the time to know it. However, if I woke up in your shoes and had one month to study and had a full-time job and other commitments I would spend almost all of my time studying tax inside and out. Although BLaw is 30-35ish percent of the exam, there are virtually no calculations and less obscure and IRC.

Failed REG the first time with a Lower than average on B law. Definitely take some time on it.

    BEC - 77 (5/16)
    AUD - TBD (8/16)
    REG - 80 (1/16)
    FAR - 76 (8/15)

Yeah business law is definitely on it. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. You should definitely practice BLaw like you would the other sections because you never know what they will throw at you, which is why I think this is by far the hardest section (my own personal opinion).

Also know basis inside and out…trust me.

Law/Ethics/Prof Responsibilities (I combine them since they are non-tax) is 32-40%-ish of your REG exam per the AICPA CSO.

B Law itself is 17-21%…glossing over it is akin to skipping Governmental Accounting and NFP accounting on FAR (20%-ish combined).

    Study it. 🙂

You can't compare law to Gov Account/NFP. Government is only 2 chapters in Becker. Law is 3 and maybe a quarter of R5. Granted, Gov can be hard for some people so I would imagine that between that and law, it would be a wash for them. But the point is there's a much bigger scope. This is why the ratio of what's actually tested vs possible topics for REG is the smallest. That's the second thread in a week which mentioned how ridiculous it is that law is half of most books but has relatively few questions on the exam.

I don't think my exam was heavily skewed towards tax or law but I don't remember much about it anymore.

    AUD 68 (2/2015), 79 (11/2015)
    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

You should go through all the business law material once and get a basic understanding at least. It will show up and you'll need to know enough to eliminate some obvious wrong answers.

Read the Biz law chapter one last time the day before the test or the morning of the test.

Don't make any notes and make it a quick read.

You will pick up some points this way because in a few cases the answers will just jump out at you since you had a recent exposure to the material.

Don't make elaborate notes over several days on business law. It is a total waste of time to do it that way.

I took REG in Feb and I had as much law as tax, 50/50. So it's just how lucky you are that day. I'd strongly recommend to paying more attention to Prof Responsibilities and then just skim over major points in topics like UCC, contracts and bankruptcy.

Don't underestimate business law, in my test, I had 15% of business law in MCQ.

    Far 10/26/2015, 64, 1/4/2016, 82
    Reg 7/10/2015, 60, 2/27/2016, 86
Aud, 5/9/2016, 74 (ouch), 7/26/2016, I cannot wait to take this test again
    Bec, 6/10/2016, 70,9/8 retake
