Man, I thought I did much better than this- 54 on my first try. I did the entire Becker course, studied like crazy all 10 chapters plus every Sim in the book the last 3 weeks to cram, and I totally whiffed.

Not sure where to go after this? I did 1 Becker chapter at a time, per week. Is it possible I just studied for too long? I did actually pretty well on my final review of the MCQs too.

    REG - ('11) 71, ('12) 71 - Becker

    BEC - TBD
    FAR - ('16) 54 - Becker

I am w/ you as well… I got 53 in my first attempt. Gave my 2nd one on 2/19… Not feeling good about it at all. SIMS were hard for me. I already started studying for my 3rd attempt. Have included Roger's CRAM course for FAR and will still use Gleim MCQ's and Text along w/ Ninja Notes.

I think 8 weeks for round 2. I had to push it to 2/19 bc I had to go out of town for work. I have to study for short window for 3rd attempt and take it in 2nd or 3rd week of April 2016. What would you recommend. I am traveling for work again last 2 weeks of March and comeback on April 1.

I don't know Becker so I will tell you my experience which might give you hope. When I got my 57 I will tell you I thought the same thing. However, when I retook it got the 63 I was like WTF!? THEN, on the 3rd attempt I really buckled down. I really dug into my problem areas (government was a struggle for me, statement of cash flows as well). I went into the test thinking if I don't pass it on this 3rd attempt then I don't know what I need to do. I walked out thinking “if I don't pass this test as good as I felt how am I ever going to pass this.” I found out I got a 77. It was close but it passed.

Really understand how to account for things. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who needs to tell someone how to do it. I didn't practice any sims. What I did was go through Roger's lectures and find out which sections had sims. Those are the ones I made sure i knew very well. I didn't practice as many MCQ either on the 3rd attempt. I did practice them but I definitely did not hit over 1,000 questions like a lot of people. Take your time studying. Give yourself ample time and really focus on the material at hand. Understand ALL journal entries, governmental accounting & Not-for-profit is huge too. It really is 20-25% of that test.

My 3rd attempt I think the trick was giving myself two weeks to review. That's when I really learned the most. If you work full time and can get through all material in 5 weeks and 2 weeks to review I don't feel that is too long.

My opinion is you should do 10x more MCQ's. I read no books and grinded Ninja MCQ and Ninja note rewrites and got 3 under the belt. MCQ MCQ MCQ

    AUD: 70, 80✔ (Expires 1/18/2017 - / Ninja MCQ / CPAExcel MCQ)
    REG: 61, 70, 75✔ (Expires 2017 - Ninja MCQ / CPAExcel MCQ)
    BEC: 78✔(Expires 5/17/2017 - Ninja MCQ / Becker Flashcards / NinjaNotes)
FAR: 57 (just to get trigger time I scheduled 1 week after REG) Retake 5/13/16

I studied about 2 hours a night before the Christmas break. I just studied for FAR last year (made it halfway through the Becker book) so Ch. 1-3 were still somewhat fresh, then I did 4-9 over break and up til the test. Starting Jan 4 up through my exam I did at least 3+ hours of MCQ M-F and then did the lectures and read the book on weekends.

My final MCQ review in reworking the questions I actually did pretty well, and then I worked all 114 or whatever there are Becker Sims. I definitely studied harder for this one than I did either time for REG (which I nearly passed on both).

So… yeah. We are getting thick into busy season, so I'm thinking of starting back up MCQs in middle/late March and taking the exam at the end of May.

Can you really study for this exam just using the Ninja info? How does the actual “knowledge transfer” work? Becker I think tries to teach you too much instead of helping you actually solve the problems quickly and correctly, so just curious where to start next? Thinking CPAExcel+Ninja? Who knows with that kind of score where even to start.

    REG - ('11) 71, ('12) 71 - Becker
    AUD - TBD
    BEC - TBD
    FAR - ('16) 54 - Becker

Looking at your scores/attempts, I think reading a book would have helped.

    I really don't suggest JUST doing MCQ's.

    -----------------------------
    BEC - 77, 03/2015 (first try)
    FAR - 79, 05/2015 (second try)
    REG - 83, 12/2015 (first try)
    AUD - 84, 03/2015 (first try)

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

After failing a few times , I started doing 3,000 MCQ's. I would mainly or only do MCQ's for my prep. No lectures, no book. Just MCQ and tons of notes, Ninja Audio anytime I was in the car and sometimes the Blitz videos and flashcards. I started passing and ultimately finished. Do tons of MCQ's.

Just buckle down on multiple choice questions. That's how I got through REG and AUD. Constant mcq. I'm trying to do the same for FAR but just so much to know.
