You should be honored that the partners even go to recruiting events. You will never see a partner recruiting (apart from maybe interviewing) in my neck of the woods.

Well the only time I've heard of a partner being asked to leave the firm was when he got involved in a relationship with an intern.. It's not about them being of a legal age, it's about staying ethical and professional. Not to say that it doesn't happen – sadly more often than you'd think – but it's still prohibited by regulations (both external and internal). But in any case it's not the norm, and my advise would be to steer clear of practices/partners where you've noticed that.
