I looked into the Becker material, and the $3000 price tag is sort of making me nervous. But it looked to be the most thorough, compared to the more casual style of Roger’s video lectures.

I graduated as an accounting major a few years ago and remember debits and credits, the accounting equation, and crediting revenue and debiting cash and many of those basics, but not much more than these bare basics……

Will Becker work for someone in my situation who (it feels like) will be learning so much from scratch? I feel like it may be better (More thorough) than Roger or Wiley, so I just wanted some more opinions before I dive in and spend $3000.

I’m assuming I read the book, take notes, watch the lectures, do the questions works for Becker (if not all of them)?

Thank you very much! I truly appreciate it!

I am in the same boat as you. My last accounting job was 10 years ago and I've never worked in public accounting. I use Becker. It does a good job of explaining the topics. I'm not sure which format you are considering, but I recently switched from self study to live online. I like this format because you get the best of both works with the lectures.

    Good Luck

@Blofeld-the CPA exam does not assume you know all of accounting-this test is a mile wide and an inch deep and the review courses are out there to teach you enough of everything in order to pass. In my opinion, Becker is as good as any, even though I supplemented with Ninja for all of mine. Yes, the key is to do everything Becker asks-watch (or listen to) lectures, take notes, do MCQ, do Skills Practice (miniature SIMS) and do SIMS.

I'm 5 years out of school now. I had been doing private accounting during that time but I basically forgot most of what I learned in school and what you need to know for these exams. Like you, Becker's price tag for me was beyond ridiculous and way out of my means. Trust me, Gleim is just as good as Becker for 1/4 the price. Make sure you get the premier package or whatever it is that gives you access until you pass though. I first bought Gleim 2 years ago and didn't follow through, but I was able to pick it back up without having to pay anything.
