Does it matter whether numbers/percentages are written out versus being included in numerical format on the written communication portion of the exam (i.e. seventy-five per cent vs. 75%). This would be good to hear from those who have passed this section. Thank you!

    BEC - 80
    FAR - 81 (third attempt)
AUD - waiting for score 8/23
REG - 09/08/2016 - going to cram and wing it

I took BEC and I don't feel like I thought too much about writing the numbers out or using numbers.

I do know when we wrote professional journal articles in college, we used Purdue's Owl site and they say this:

“Although usage varies, most people spell out numbers that can be expressed in one or two words and use figures for other numbers. “

I don't think the CPA examiners are as strict on that, since our main goal is not probably to be journal writers. However, I know they really emphasize grammar and spelling, and basically a nice format. I just wrote everything I would know about a subject – with a opening, middle, and conclusion paragraph, and I feel like I got through the BEC sims pretty easily.
