I have passed FAR and AUD but I seem to be struggling with studying for BEC. I am using Becker and am only through B2, but none of the concepts seem to be sticking and I cant seem to get any questions right. Is Ninja a better option than becker for this test? Im trying to take this one first week on January, but if studying keeps going like this, doesn’t look hopeful.

Watch the becker lectures, take detailed flashcards on the chapter, do the becker MCQ once then move on to the next chapter. Once you finish the book memorize 2 chapter flashcards a day, once those are memorized spend a week on only ninja mcq. Don't spend a second on the WR.

I remember chapters 2 and 3 MCQ for Becker being long and dragged out, do every other one. You wont see any on the exam that intense.

    What Beantown said.

B2 and B3 are the worst chapters in the entire Becker catalog, IMO. Don't get hung up on the 4 million lengthy questions they throw at you. Know the basics and move on. I will say that I did like the ninja questions better than the Becker questions for BEC.

I used Wiley CPAexcel book and Ninja MCQs for BEC. For me, the Wiley multiple choice are always a little more difficult than Ninja. I don't know if it's because of the format (generally I think Ninja is more user friendly than a textbook) or because the problems are just more difficult. If have both read the chapter do all the Wiley problems and then do the Ninja ones.

I am taking BEC next week as well. Not sure how I will do. I really think BEC is more challenging that FAR. With FAR you could follow the steps calculate a problem…which sort of stuck in my memory for a week or two after studying. With BEC, I can’t remember the stuff I studied 3 days ago.

I think Becker really sucks for BEC. They need to get real economists and cost accountants to teach this stuff. Mike Brown is ok, but I can’t say the same about his wife.

I am surprised to see many people struggling with BEC when they passed other parts fine. Here I am, struggling with Reg…..

Personally BEC was very doable, but given the general response you do forget things fast since BEC is really not related (I call it “the leftovers” section).

When I studied for BEC, i forced myself in very short frame (2 weeks, 12 days of studying) and that may have helped. Since BEC is so scattered, I believe cramming may work best for BEC. As a side note, I pretty much ended up forgetting most things in a week or two after the test but I did not care :).

Materials: Wiley book + Ninja MCQ

    FAR - 83 (Jan 2016)
    Study time: 6 weeks
    BEC - 87 (April 2016)
    Study time: 2 weeks
    AUD - 92 (July 2016), (74 Feb 2016), (72 May 2016)
    Study time: 4 (Feb) + 2 (May) + 3 (July) = 9 weeks total
    REG - (70 April 2016)
    Study time: 3 weeks

Yea mhei, I wish I had that kind of time. I have to use vacation time to study and write the exam, so I don’t have a nice block of time before the exam to study. I’ve spread to over a few months, which is all I have- I only have the weekends to study and I need half a day of the weekend to do chores. I agree, I think a nice 2 weeks to a month to do BEC is ideal.

Nessie – fortunately work was not busy (40-45 hrs/week) so I had decent time studying. Probably hard to do now during this time period. Good luck with BEC, you are almost done. I hope I can trade my BEC with your REG lol.

BEC was the best part for cramming. Things are so random which makes no sense.
