BEC or REG in Q4?

    Hi all,
I need some guidance please. I took FAR on 8/2 and found out today I passed with an 81. I had an incredible busy August due to some other commitments and thought I may have failed so I have not studied since then.

Q4 at my job is going to be very busy due to a promotion and system conversion. I can’t afford to miss a testing window so my choices are BEC, REG, or AUD in Q4 with a busy work schedule.

Any advice on which one to take? (I use Wiley and Ninja) I know REG is changing and I also know REG is probably my most time-intensive test left and it will also be my biggest struggle. BEC sounds like the easiest and it would be much easier for me to study for that this window instead of REG. So should I tough it out and do REG or AUD or take BEC? Things will calm down at work after Q4.

    Thanks!

How familiar are you with the current tax laws? Q4 is the last quarter testing 2017 laws. Would base my decision on that. Last Q4 exam date is 12/10. 3 months should be enough time to study. Also, AUD has carryover from FAR and was the easiest of the four

Go ahead and knock out REG. With it changing, this is a slam dunk. I studied for REG right at 4 weeks while working full-time (it was busy season, so I was working about 60 hours a week). 3 months should be plenty to study for it. None of the remaining 3 exams compare in terms of amount of material to FAR. REG probably has a small amount more than AUD. BEC is less material than AUD or REG, but I wouldn't underestimate it. I thought coming in that it would be the easiest, and it ended up being by far the hardest for me to study for.

@ The Benjamins I have no tax experience. I took 2 (personal and business) tax classes in school a year ago but don't remember much so I would be starting from scratch.

@ Chandler How many hours did you study for REG? That is crazy impressive you finished in four weeks. I stretched FAR out over like 3 months and 180 hours. I plan on getting the next parts done faster.

@Pwhite, I would guess around 30 hours per week? Definitely over studied for it as it was my first exam. I had zero life this last tax season as you might guess LOL.
-Even if you have little tax experience/education, I would still be tempted to go for REG in Q4. There is much more certainty over what will be on the exam this quarter vs. what parts of the new tax law may or may not be integrated in 2019.

    BOTH for me.

I paid my exam fees for all 4 exams on 3/30 but didn't get my NTS until 6/15, which means I have until 12/10 to take all 4 exams. 2 taken (AUD passed, FAR pending) and 2 to go!

Good luck @Iceman, having FAR out of the way is big. It will be a busy couple of weeks, but I expect you will have no problem running though REG and BEC based on your AUD score.
