Hi, I recently took the BEC test and I found it to be really really lengthy and time consuming. Without divulging any details about the questions, Recent test takers, can you please share your opinion

Not sure the length compared to the past as I have only taken it once, but this was definitely the longest exam for me and I felt pretty well prepared for it. I only had about ten minutes left when I was done. The 4 hours also felt more like 6.

This section took me the longest of all the sections. I've only taken it once (so far) so I can't say whether it's changed. I took 1 1/2 hours on the written communications testlet because I hate writing. I didn't think the MCQs or the SIMs took me any longer than the other sections, though.

I can't speak for FAR, but BEC was definitely the longest for me. I submitted the exam with one minute left to spare. I studied longer and harder for BEC than I did for REG and AUD, and I just never felt prepared like I did for the others. I'm nervous for score release.

BEC took the longest for me as well, and I thought prepared. FAR, AUD & REG each took about 2 hrs. But for BEC I only had about 15-20 minutes left.

Took me the longest as well, but I felt better about this section than the other sections I've taken.

It was my longest section, and I could have used more time.

It's reallyyyy long and, ironically, the section that I've had to take the most so far so you can imagine how tired I am of it. I always use the full four hours to do it. I finished REG and AUD with an hour to spare. I always find it to be the most stressful in terms of time management because at the back of your mind is the WC and you try to leave at least an hour to do that alone. With the other sections, you know it's just MCQ and SIMS, so it's not as much stress with the time for me.

BEC was my longest by far-
    REG: 2.5 hours
    AUD: 1.5 hours
    FAR: 3.0 hours
BEC: 3.995 hours (I had like two minutes to spare, LOL)

It was definitely my longest as well. I was left with about 5 min left, though at that point I decided I might as well use all the time and review the writing . Either way, it took me by far the longest of all 4 tests. Test Times Below:

    FAR: 2:20
    AUD: 2:35
    REG: 2:50
    BEC: 3:55

Huh. I'm kinda weirded out to see everyone say this section took so long. I walked out with over a half hour left (and because of that, I thought I bombed it, ended up with an 87). Contrarily, FAR took me every bit of four hours. I was scurrying to wrap up the last TBS with a minute on the clock, but I ended up passing that, too. I'm a former journalist, so I had extreme confidence that once I got to the writing portion, I could perform strongly and probably get pretty close to full credit for that entire 15% of the test. Maybe that helped.

Hey Jack Molitor….Thanks for sharing your views. I think what BEC exam is really testing now a days is student's capacity to read and understand the given topic and answer accordingly and in time, more like a reading comprehension. Your prior experience on Journalism , I think has definitely helped you get such great score!

I took BEC before it has SIMS and it was definitely my shortest section but I can absolutely see how BEC SIMS are so time consuming……

I finished BEC in roughly 3:20. I had sims in areas I felt very confident in and I typically write super fast. Really hope my Jesuit college background where I had to write philosophy, lit and religion papers helps me get over the BEC hump.
