I’m scheduled to take BEC April 14th and I am struggling to get through the material. I am using Becker (as I did when I studied for REG), but the problems take me soooo long to complete – I just can’t get over it! I have 4 weeks left to study – what should be my plan? For those who have taken the exam – what were the types of MCQs? Were they really the lengthy ones Becker uses to test or am I just wasting time trying to master those? Any help would be appreciated!!!

    REG – 77

    BEC – 4/14/16

    AUD – TBD

    FIN – TBD

Honestly, I am going to take BEC for a third time in April. My schedule is to take 2 days to go through each chapter and the questions. Then after I get through the lectures/questions once I will just start hammering out the MCQ. I might buy NINJA at that point. My target date is 4/4.

I would suggest making your own notes as you watch the lectures. Also, if you cannot completely grasp a concept, I recommend going onto the next area and then once you have gone through the material go back to those concepts again.

I am going to spend a lot more time on the concepts, this time. Becker makes you feel like there are tons of complicated calculations and while you need to know how to do calculations (as many as you can possibly memorize), conceptualization plays a huge role on the exam. The only caveat is that sometimes the concept stems from knowledge of a calculation.

I am sure that this is a lot of information to digest. If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to help.

Thank you, @MaLoTu! That helps to know Becker has more complicated questions than on the exam. I was getting worried that I would get all of the questions answered. Good luck!

I meant to respond back to you on my post, sorry! So I found that Becker lacked a little bit in the corp gov and IT area for me. There were a lot of questions/terms on the exam in those areas that I did not recognize (and I did a lot of MCQs/read the book front to back). Supplementing with NINJA increased my score 5 points – I would definitely recommending adding to Becker. I also found that spending time on those lengthy Becker problems was a waste of my time, but I would definitely memorize all formulas. I would know the several ways each formula driven question can be asked – there were questions that took me forever to recognize how I'd be able to solve, and I end up guessing most. Good luck!!!!

    AUD - 83
    REG - 76 (8 months pregnant)
    BEC - 69, 73, 78 (With a newborn)
    FAR - May 2016

THANK YOU ST. JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO!!!!!

Thank you, @ShannWeiss! I did notice with REG that Ninja covered different things and it was good to have both MCQs to do. I have done the same for BEC. I will continue to working the problems, but will not be so worried that I am taking too long and try to get the concepts down. And I will study, study, study the formulas!!! I have pushed the exam back to May so I feel more comfortable that I will get the info down. I was not expecting for BEC to kick my butt like it is! Thanks for the advice.
