Can anyone who hates tax tell me about your experience? I passed FAR and AUD pretty solidly, which would make one think I would be fine for the rest. But REG has me feeling so defeated. Sometimes on FAR I would wonder if I could ever remember enough material, but it would be a passing fear. REG feels like that alllll the time, and I’m really struggling with the sims.

I guess I’d just like to hear some experiences of anyone who was okay with the other sections, but struggled a lot with REG.

So far, REG was the toughest for me. Studying for FAR now…I think when you are in the weeds of it, it's overwhelming, but as you go through all of it, you will find there are general rules applicable to all sections, so to speak…I would just trust your study process you used for other sections and it will work out. Like no other section, I would say knowing the concepts is key to SIMS here…SIMS in Becker and Ninja weren't great in preparing me for the test per se. Estates is also very underrated, so pay attention to those.

I'm the opposite. I like REG but struggling with BEC right now. For REG it helps to see and understand the big picture and the general concepts. It helped me to talk to tax pro and get the concepts down.

@helpme732 , hey you passed FAR and AUD then REG should be cake for your.Let us see if I can help you on REG.First don't get overwhelmed with so many rules like 69 years ,phaseout etc. They are important for real calculations but CPA exam ask about concept and not phaseout or deduction amount.
Now there are just 4 chapters .Pay attention to corporate and partnership. Understand the “BASIS” , and AMT.There would just 2 mcq on AMT but hey every marks counts. If you understood Basis ,you will pass REG.BTW Ninja's REG book is good ,if money is not the issue ,you can buy that and just go over it.
