I’ve watched all the Becker A1 lecture and have been going through the homework, but have been doing terribly on the questions. I would go back in and read the book for each question so that I can try and grasp as much material and concepts as possible for each question I attempt, but I always seem to miss a detail in an answer or from reading the question that makes me get 50-60% scores on each homework.

Does anyone have any advice? Am I simply just overthinking everything?

Audit is very tricky, and if you read a question wrong or miss a keyword then it completely changes the answer. I would keep practicing and as you do more questions you will start to pick up on the words and how the questions are worded. Another thing I try to look at are the answers. Sometimes I look at a question and think one thing and then I start reading the answers and realize my interpretation was completely off. Force yourself to read through each answer option. Another thing I do is that I talk through each answer. Why is it right and why is that answer choice wrong. When I do that exercise it helps me figure out what I truly understand in a given chapter and what I don't understand.

I get tired at times and just rush through and pick the right answer because I have seen the question before and know what the answer is. Also, read the detail it gives you at the bottom after you answer a question. That also helps me understand the concepts.

You can do it. Practice, practice, practice.

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

Thanks a lot! Good luck on your score, by the way. I have a co-worker who took audit probably 7-8 times before finally passing it with an 80. It was definitely her hardest exam, as well as the hardest exam for everyone in my office (forensic accountants).

I'm confident that you'll pass it this time!

I agree with poster above – try not to rush through the questions and do pay attention to keywords that are usually too “strong” such as…

    Always
    Never
    Must not

Usually, when an answer contains one of these words, its not the correct one. This helped me because many times I knew off the bat that 2 questions weren't right, but it's always a toss up between the other two, and this would help narrow it.

With audit and the authoritative literature being so gray in many areas, strong words like this are rarely appropriate and correct.

Great responses guys! Keep it going! I'm in my first week of AUD and I'm a bit overwhelmed.

    FAR - 75 (2/25/16)
    AUD - 80 (4/8/16)
    REG - 80 (6/10/16)
    BEC - 79 (7/19/16)

You only get one shot with the spirit bomb.

Keep plugging away at it but don't get too bogged down in the details. Frankly I was surprised I passed Audit the first time because I have no audit experience other than 1 class in undergrad. Keep the big picture in mind. Try to remember the audit cycle and how each stage fits in with it.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16
