Audit Exam Experience

Just wanted to share a few things on my AUD experience (scored a 93)

    1) Do not waste your time trying to gauge your testlet difficulty. It means nothing. I felt the testlets went easy/easy/easy. A hard question will be easy if you are prepared and know the answer. An easy question will be hard for you if you don’t know it. Stop thinking about testlet difficulty!

    2) Studying for the SIMS is impossible. I was able to answer the SIMS based on audit/accounting work experience and using the authoritative literature. No amount of studying would have helped me on the sims.

    3) I did about 4,000 MCQ (a lot of repeats) and felt it helped a lot. Seeing the same question 5 times enabled me to nail down the concepts.

Thanks for the insight. I am taking audit on the 8th of Sept. It is my last exam!!!!

I have kind of taken your advice already. It seems like there is a lot of overlap in each chapter as I read through my Gleim book, so I have started to more skim through (unless something seems foreign) and focus on getting to the MCQ's. For a memorization & conceptual test, it seemed like this should get me through it. I sure hope so. I don't want to fail my last one!

I didn't practice any of the SIMS for BEC either. Seems like a waste. You know it or you don't.

    Congrats on the 93!

Congrats on the 93! That's a job well done. I too am testing for AUD on Sept. 8th. I'm curious as to how long it took you to run through 4,000 MCQs? I've got A3-6 left to cover in Becker and feel as if I have enough time to prepare myself for the exam, but not sure I can fit 4,000 MCQs in that time frame. Any suggestions for someone who is in a time crunch in terms of balancing the readings, note taking, and MCQs at this point?

Hawk- pound the mcqs! I did 150 per weekday, and 300 saturday and 300 sunday for about 2 weeks. The 3 days before the exam I did 400/day. And make sure to read the question and all 4 answers.

Saif – use the authoritative literature. One of the sims was 100% in the AI.

    Congratulations Ryan!! Great score!

For the exam, you think it's important to memorize the specific wording (literally the specific word by word phrasing) of the audit reports? Becker stresses the wording a lot but ninja mcq doesn't and ninja mcq focuses more on the general idea/concept behind the phrases from the reports. I guess what I'm asking is “how reflective was ninja mcq's too the actual exam?”

Congrats on the score! I just found out I passed on August 3rd with an 89. I completely agree on test difficulty – it all seemed challenging but familiar to me. I purchased Ninja MCQ 3 weeks before my test date, right after I finished reading the Roger book, and just hammered away on MCQ and SIMS until test day. I did 200-250 a day. I definitely recommend buying it.

    Hey Ryan,

What software did you use for your questions?

    Hey Sarah,

Were the Ninja questions alot better than Roger's questions? Right now I am studying Audit just from Roger and using his questions software. I am want to purchase more difficult questions because for Reg I consistently scored 80+ on the simulation exams with Roger but for the actual test I got a 70. I don't want to make that mistake again lol

    Thanks!

Sween, Ninja is much more challenging than Roger, which is a good thing when you're studying. I definitely recommend getting the Ninja MCQ.

I took audit on Monday and felt good about the multiple choice but terrible about the sims. I completely forgot to use the authoritative literature when I was stuck. Next Thursday can't get here soon enough…

I took Audit on Tuesday and felt pretty good on the MCQ's. I think I did very good on the first two testlets. The last testlet had 2 questions that dealt with something I've never covered. The test feels more like a reading compression test than a test on Audit.

The sims sucked. I got the research question right. The other sims were rough. They covered topics that I didn't study, and I couldn't use AL to look up answers. They were very straight forward. You either knew the subject matter, or you didn't. I feel like I got 60% on the sims. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with a 70-74. I'm hoping the curve is on my side.

@Ryan Did you memorize anything or just study normally?
