3.5 weeks into a 6 week study session for AUD using Wiley CPA as my review course. For whatever reason this stuff is just not sticking as it should. Many questions seem to be nowhere in the text. Im averaging about 65-70% when doing 40 to 100 random question sets. Seems like this isn’t good enough. Thoughts?

    BEC- 71, 7/02/16
    AUD- 67
    FAR- 08/27/16
    REG- 10/15/16

i think with audit you have to review in sequence to get the procedural nature of audit. audits happen in phases and the activities performed are dependent on which phase you are in. that is what you have to nail to pass the exam. so if you have only been doing random questions try to approach the material by section. i am also a big advocate of becoming familiar with the standards. aicpa for nonissuers and pcaob for issuers. reading through one or two to get familiar with the layout and presentation will help you with the sims. you will also see that they are listed on the websites in roughly the same sequence as an audit occurs. you must also know the type of engagement and the differences in required activities for review, attest, and audit. all the standards are available online.
    good luck.

I think you need to read the book really carefully and take your notes in order to understand auditing. Often, the questions are asking the best answer, if you don't know the answer right away, you need to analysis and come up with the best answer. Thus, I think reading is even more important than practice the questions.

    Far 10/26/2015, 64, 1/4/2016, 82
    Reg 7/10/2015, 60, 2/27/2016, 86
Aud, 5/9/2016, 74 (ouch), 7/26/2016, I cannot wait to take this test again

I feel the same exact way. Audit is not clicking the way it should and I feel like some of the questions are so abstract. The transaction cycles/assertions are a killer and I've spent hours reading the material and still score in the 50s on that homework. I'm using Becker and my scores for audit are much lower than FAR, REG, BEC. Not sure how to approach studying for this one.

    FAR: 87
    REG: 90
    BEC: 74(ouch), retake 7/16/16
    AUD: 96
