So I certainly underestimated my “studying” for audit. I’m using Yaeger for it and added Ninja MCQ a few weeks before taking the exam. Maybe it’s due to my 4-5 years being out of school, but any kind of notes I take during the videos seem to almost fall on deaf ears. Gary does a lot MCQ from the Wiley book during the videos, but instead of explaining the choices he essentially goes straight to the answer without saying why that answer and not the others.

My question is what is the best route for me to study for the exam using or not using the materials I currently have? Read the chapter first, watch videos and then the Ninja MCQ? Any suggestions would be great especially since I’d like to take it again here in a month or so.

i also used the actual standards for audit and recommend you know what standards exist for audit, attest and review. that nonissuers use aicpa standards only. issuers use pcaob – especially pcaob 5. read a few to understand how they are organized and the differences between the numbered paragraphs and the A. paragraphs. doing this will help for the sims. only use the AU-C, clarified standards from AICPA for audit.
    good luck. google them.

    FAR 7/25/15 76!
    AUD 10/30/15 93
    BEC 2/27/16 82
    REG 5/23/16 88!
Ninja Book and MCQ and the forum - all the way!!!
and a little thing i like to call, time and effort!

I have used Yaeger in the past and I thought Gary did go over the answer choices. The course could have changed since I used it. With audit you are going to have to learn the material and not solely rely on the instructor. If you are not learning from the lectures, maybe ditch the lectures and read the book. I always thought I learned from the lectures but I was wrong. I read the Wiley textbook from cover to cover. I googled what I could not understand to see if maybe someone out there had a better way of helping me understand the concepts. As I went through the questions I explained why an answer choice was right and why it was wrong. I was able to raise my score in the 60s to a 73. So, for my next audit retake I am not going to go over the lectures but instead read the book and work the MCQs. I did get the Ninja Audit book just because I cannot stomach reading the Wiley textbook again.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

I passed all my four section using Yaeger and Ninja MCQ's . As you can see in my signature I also failed audit once and that was all because of my laziness ,
so for the second time I started from the beginning,Because I already seen the video once and took the detailed notes almost everything what Gary sir said on video and( I think he pointed out most of the stuff which we need to know for exam day ) .

So after reading I went through the video's again and tried to understand everything and wrote down If anything I misunderstood or didn't cover then I did all the MCQ's of Wiley book, while I was doing the MCQ's I read all the answer choices and tried to understand why the right one is right and wrong one is wrong I think here I learned most of the material and got the idea how to eliminate the wrong answer choices.(but I think Gary sir did mention why the right one is right ) .
For Internal Control, I made the flowchart on each transaction and went over a couple of times.
also, the last page of the handout is very important it helped me on exam day on some questions.
last I would suggest for the module 1( Professional Responsibility )
go over the Wiley excel free video they covered it in detailed.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Perhaps I've misspoken on Gary's explanation on questions, maybe just it is that he went through them so quickly it seemed as if i were always behind writing down stuff without really understanding it. Certainly that's my fault for not hitting the pause button. I just need to work on focusing my attention a bit more.
