AUD Retake Tips

    Hi,

So I failed AUD for the second time this quarter (prepped using Becker) and I am wondering how to get over the hump. I have passed FAR and REG using Becker, but can’t seem to get AUD done. I felt like I had a good understanding of the material (both times), but still ended up failing with comparable in MCQ and weaker in SIMS. I was wondering if any of you have been in a similar situation and how you figured out how to pass? Like, what did you focus on studying on, what did you do differently, did you use any other CPA materials? I am open to buying new CPA materials as I am running out of time before my exams begin to expire. I’ve read GLEIM is a good review course for AUD, but was wondering about Wiley and Ninja as well. I read Ninja is better for MCQ while GLEIM is better for SIMS, does anyone have any first hand experience on these? Thanks!

This may be painfully obvious, but I failed AUD twice before realizing that MCQ's alone didn't cover all the material, no matter how hard I drilled them. So I started reading the Wiley notes, which greatly aided my understanding and filled in the missing gaps.

Everybody is different. I took audit in 11/2016 and retook in 8/2017. Got a 72 on my retake. Took FAR on 11/4 and took Audit again on 12/4. So I had a month to study, all I really did was skim the entire book again and hammered MCQ. The 5 days or so before my test I spent 2-3 days practicing SIMs. I honestly don't think how you go about it matters, but just make sure you give extra focus to your weaker areas.

Thank you both for your responses, I actually scored weaker in every category lol. But I think I didn't score THAT much “weaker” than passing candidates because I did get a 68, so it might have been almost “comparable” with a few more correct MC and SIMS. That being said, I think I struggled the most on identifying differences between SSARS, SSAE and normal audit report, so I'll probably focus on those. I'll probably read the NINJA notes and the Becker Final Review to really brush up on it and actually start studying the SIMS. Thanks again, especially since you guys have been in my shoes and have gotten over the hump for AUD!
