Just do not feel like becker works for me,their lectures are so boring that it puts me to sleep..I do not have any experience in audit and it makes it extremely difficult to comprehend all of the information..I barely finished A1 and today I started listening to A2 and turned it off after couple minutes as I was afraid to fall asleep on my way home after work.. I really think that Gearty does not explain the material,except reading through the book… Should I buy Rogers prep course?I really want to understand it..please help with advice..Thanks in advance!

i felt the same way with AUD and Becker. I had NO experience with AUD and i truly hated it. However, it was the only exam I passed the first time! AUD is all about memorizing. If you already purchased Becker I would not purchase another program. Stick it out, put 120% effort the first time so you can move on to more “interesting” topics.

Gearty is a lousy instructor. Wait until you are further along and he says CAR stands for record keeping, custody and “authority,” he means authorization, but you should know what he meant lol! I was listening to him with headphones and actually hear him sort of burp, and his cell phone rings multiple times in the background! I have no idea why he is the “national instructor.”

You will be happy to know there is another guy who will come up halfway through the course. I think his name is Tim Brown, anyway, he is a much better instructor and actually explains concepts in a concise way.

Nessie, It's actually ARC. CAR is used in FAR. But same letters and I agree Gearty isn't that great. The other dude is actually Mike Brown. He is much better but too bad he came in the wrong chapter A4. The hardest and longest one in my opinion. I don't wanna watch those lectures anymore. 🙁

I also purchased ninja MCQ to practice and I really do not know how to work the study plan as its structure does not match my Becker book. Anyway it is good to know they have another instructor ,now I am excited about getting to the middle of the book as soon as possible:)

Spartans, I am as bad as Gearty 2 days after the exam lol- still braindead!! I was taught it as CAR, but whatever, he wasn’t that bad in REG, but simply read out of the book for AUD. Mike Brown and some woman who speaks extremely quickly teach the final review.

akduran and lemberg, I took 2 AUD courses in grad school and they really didn’t cover the CPA material. We did case studies and focused much more on public companies, so don’t worry too much about that. But, don’t you have to have at lease one AUD course to be able to write? I thought that was the requirement.

lemberg, he is like *SO* much better. I finally understood what AUD was all about with the new guy. Im starting to study for FAR and I am so paranoid of more Gearty that I checked to make sure he wasn’t on the first few FAR lectures.

Nessie, yes I took audit couple years ago but it was one course (online) and I mostly memorized it in order to pass now I really want to understand it and I have heard people say that Roger is good,I watched some of his videos on youtube and his lectures are much better than Gearty's..

Yes!! Roger is so much better he is more enthusiastic! making it much more entertaining and FUN to learn. Like it even motivates you to study. But once I realize I have to listen to Tim… I lose all my excitement. Reason I have becker is because that is what my company pays for. Sucks not getting to choose. But better than having to pay myself, so I should not complain. I love Olinto in FAR I can not wait to listen to him again Nessie (on F4). Why is Gearty teaching so many sections.

@nassie, I did not go to grad school. Fortunately I had enough credits by the end of my bachelor's to be able to sit for the CPA. I only had 1 AUD class and it was worse than Becker…

I was just about to put a post out there on how to get “excited” during AUD studying. I have Roger so thankfully the lectures are really good but when it comes to going to the book to read it is tough. I don't have an AUD background so it is not the most exciting material.

@gobigblue I agree. Roger does his best to make the material somewhat palatable. I just can't stand when he starts reading from the book….I start going into la-la land
