AUD Authoritative Literature

First off, I have to say that I’m having an unusually hard time studying for AUD. FAR and REG seemed to make much more sense to me. I’ve lacked serious motivation the last couple of weeks and now panic mode is starting to settle in, but I don’t take the test till Oct. 6th.

A big worry of mine is navigating the AUD Authoritative Literature. I just don’t get it. Using the equivalent for FAR and REG seemed much more straight forward.

I can’t seem to get any of the keywords right, and I know when it comes to the exam, every little bit helps. What I think should be the keyword gives me too many results, and when I check Becker for the answer, I never would’ve chosen that as my search.

Does anybody have any advice for this?

This probably isn't much help but I often try to think of a specific word or phrase that would be included within the paragraph of the codification. For example, if the research question asks about Going Concern disclosure, I would used the Advanced Search function to search for the exact phrase “substantial doubt”.

Another trick I use to filter out the results is use the “Search Within Function”. When you click a Folder on the left side and use that function, it'll only search folders and codification underneath that.

I use the search within function that Andrew was talking about a lot. An issuer will use the PCAOB lit, and a nonissuer will be AICPA. Within the AICPA, the majority of research questions will be in AU-C since they will pertain to audits. I start by getting a decent idea of which section it will be in, and then do the “search within” using a keyword.

    I hope that helps!
