Hey all,
As the title mentions, I’m currently at a point where I feel I need to make a decision. I want to respect your all’s help so I’ll be as quick and to the point as I can (see TL;DR):
I started my CPA journey at the beginning of the year with FAR using Becker. My studying was very inefficient and ineffective until the end so I was not surprised by my score of 66. I felt very overwhelmed by the experience and the amount of material, but I took my newly learned study habits and was able to pass AUD with a 78 right before the summer. Once the summer came, I moved to a new city, started in public accounting, and got married a few months later all while trying to study for FAR again. Got my score back last week: 64. I actually went into it feeling a little better prepared than before, but felt the questions all hit areas I was unfamiliar/weak in (gotta love the luck of the draw).
So currently I’m just pretty burned out with both Becker and FAR. While I know I’m not a unique situation, working in auditing all day and sometimes into the night then coming home to the same Becker material quickly became my worst nightmare. I’m trying to decide where to go from here:
1) Do I continue with Becker or try an alternative (work will pay)?
2) Do I immediately try FAR again or take a break with BEC?TL;DR/TO RECAP:
– Currently passed: AUD [expires 10/31/17]
– Failed: FAR twice
– Currently using: Becker
– Feeling: Wore out by both Becker and FAR
– Prior to failing FAR: Was going to start BEC and take it mid/late January
– Study best: In smaller “chunks” of new materialOne of my co-workers has went from Becker to using both Roger CPA and Wiley Test Bank, and has voiced similar concerns with Becker, so that might be what I’m leaning towards. Although Ninja seems great too.
I hope that’s enough information. Please, if you’ve been through a similar experience, share your insight!
Thanks!
