Are you self-funded or firm-funded for the exam?

I just wondered how many people are paying for the exams and review courses out of their own pocket?

My last exam a girl showed up at prometric with a story how she hadn’t studied at all and had to call her brother to print out the NTS because she had just moved that weekend and they hadn’t hooked up the printer.

My thought was how could you just waste that exam fee, why not just pay the $25 to reschedule, but maybe she wasn’t paying for it out of her own pocket.

I thought the reschedule was $100 or so? Or maybe it varies pending location?

I was out of pocket but got half off beckers at my first firm.

The Big4 I work at only reimburses passing scores, so the financial risk of not studying is still on the test taker.

I have a limit of 3500 to spend on courses, registration, and any other supplemental study information I buy like Ninja MCQs. Pretty nice as a whole, can't complain. That's fully refunded, and then of course we get a passing bonus for 12 or 18 months of hire date.

The real question here is who is “Sugar Mama” or “Sugar Daddy” funded?

Wow Biggie, that's pretty nice. I'm paying for everything, I don't even want to add it up at this point. I know you can't take it as a tax deduction on your regular taxes, but I wonder if I can take it as a Schedule C deduction if I do some business this year. Haven't take regs yet so I don't know – :).

I was fully self-funded. Starting while working at a small tax firm where the owner wasn't a CPA, so wasn't even thought of to have anything reimbursed; finished while working in private, where again, there was no thought of having anything reimbursed. That's why I used Wiley books and the 10 point combo which at the time included Wiley test bank and was cheaper than buying the test bank on its own…which is actually the way I originally find A71, Googling options to buy WTB cheaper. 😛

My firm pays for study materials and application/testing fees. I just have to wait until I start to get reimbursed for the app and testing fees.

Plus I get a bonus for passing all four parts 🙂

I was funded by my last firm (B4) but because they made me work so much I couldnt finish the exam so I left and am now self funded as my current company does not reimburse. However, I am still using a friends review course so that is still funded by my last firm haha but all the exam fees, rescheduling fees, and license fee will be myself. At this point its more of a personal goal to pass the exam so I was ok leaving B4 knowing I had to pay it all on my own.

Self- funded- but I did get Becker for being the campus ambassador, so there’s that. I guess, subconsciously, I thought it was OK to take 9 exams instead of just 4. I wish my subconscious was a bit more frugal. Lol

100% self-funded. As much as I would've loved for my company to pick up my >$2000 tab for the review material/exams, I feel that I am more motivated since I am self-funded.
